Do you have any medals?
Upon arrival to our spot, the peacenik and chief anti-war veteran demanded that we show them our medals, as if only military service would entitle us to have an opinion. DogRobber replied honestly that he had no medals. Bluesage also has no medals, but Bret has medals (hes a vet) and so does Zip (also a vet). A curious request from the peaceniks, considering they detest the military so much that only those who reject the honor of military service need apply for membership to their ranks.
Six Missourians stood for America this morning, once again, across from the peacenik crowd. With the Air Force birthday and POW/MIA events happening this past week, we were in a reflective mood and discussed issues amongst ourselves. Newbie, Bret, was a bit disconcerted by the half-peace signs directed at us. Must have been that new parasite sign!
As always, we were amazed at the anger and intolerance the peaceful sorts exhibit toward those who disagree with them. This winter when we turn on our heat, drive our comfy cars to work, and enjoy the prosperity that freedom brings, well have to think about their signs and feel sorry for the peaceniks. We know they will be cold, on foot, and extremely unhappy with all America and our military has given to them.
One thing is also clear from this past weeks international events. There will be war with Iraq. President Bush has given clear notice that Iraq must surrender its sovereignty to the UN and America and allow unconditional, intrusive and complete inspections of its nuclear, chemical and bio-weapon capability. Saddam will not comply and we will not be gainsaid our purpose. Ultimately, the peacenik forces will see their protests come to naught and they will be forced to choose between America and her enemies. We know what their choice will be and what ours will be.
FReepers Attending: Zip, DogRobber, Bretmilk, and BSW. Also attending: Wendel and a Ziplet
Thank you to all the freepers who demonstrate their patriotism by standing in the gap back at the home-front.
Thank you to all the troops who serve on the front lines. We appreciate your service, and the freedoms which your service is helping to maintain (including the freedoms of the peaceniks to protest everything you/we do and are!).
Personal thoughts on "patriotism": as a female, I wasn't allowed to serve (nor would I have wanted to, if truth be told) in the armed services when I was within the age range. But guess what: neither was Clara Barton, Rosie-the-riveter, etc. Does that mean that they weren't patriotic? NOT!!! One's patriotism (love of one's country) can be demonstrated in many ways. The men/women on the front lines put their bodies where their hearts are. The rest of us do what little we can on the home-front.
Thank you, military and all patriots. May God bless and protect America.
To All and I really hope I didn't miss anyone: It is the one day a week we can all get together with a sane group and make a small difference. Thank you for your participation in making Operation Infinite FReep a success! It seems they are now coast to coast
This thread is now dedicated to all our service members- active, retired, or disabled. May this thread with all the various responses, opinions, gratefulness, anger, tributes, trials, and happiness remind everyone of last week's special dates-The Air Force Birthday, and POW/MIA rememberance and what they are fighting, or have fought for. Let them see FRee Republic in action. May it counter the peaceniks' protests and their anti-military sway!
God bless our troops.
Absolutely! And I have to agree with you too Sam that there are many ways to show your love for our country and your patriotism. I happen to think the work Snow Bunny and you and I and so many others do at the USO Canteen FReeper Style is patriotism in action, just as the awesome Missouri FReepers and other groups show theirs by taking a stand against the peaceniks. It's not the method that is used - it's the motivation behind it, in my opinion, that determines whether one is a patriot or not.
Thought I'd pass it along to some Columbia area freepers, hope I got enough of you to get the message out if you haven't heard yet. And I wish I could go!
No man in his right mind wouldn't be. : )
I'm a little over a hundred miles away, but she'd be worth the drive for sure!
You Missouri FReepers do a wonderful job. God bless!
So true! I don't know what time it's supposed to be held, but could be found out by calling the MU switchboard, most likely. Wish I could be there!
PS. Amy, Happy Peacenik FReeping. You're a doll for all of your assistance!
Lunch Over
Just not sure what time her talk is, so you'll have to do some scouting to find out.
It would be great, but I can't make it. : (
Here is the obligatory post of Ann. Ann, if you lurk. go get them tonight at MU!
Ahhhhhhhh....thank you, Blue. Made my day you did. : )
Or how about:"LOGGING GOOD, FIRE BAD".
The reaction from their simple brains should be amusing!
All the best!
