I'll elaborate.

The local news here has traced this woman to an Irish/Gypsy group that lives in White Settlement, a small community north of Ft. Worth. The whole group engages in parking lot and roofing scams and the cops here are constantly dogging them.

A friend of mine who owns a drug store won't let them in his store after they practically wiped him out once while he was arguing with one of the matriarchs about a prescription.

I tend to agree with you. I didn't see any hits to the head; the child is not in view. I think its a dramatic overreaction; the child is in danger; suffering from skull fractures. Give me a break.

Saw that last night; it was the most brutal beating I could imagine someone giving a child.
And I can hardly imagine the child surviving.

Here is the link. The kid was probably NOT "kicking her feet happily" after being struck like that. How could anyone? She was probably kicking her feet and crying.

It appears the woman looked around to see if anyone was nearby before she began striking her kid, possibly for not getting into the carseat "fast enough". Then, after she secured the carseat, it appears she uses her fist on top of the child's head a few more times for good measure. It made me feel sick to watch it.

Fox show two different clips that may have led to confusiion. In the first clip, it looked like the mother may have spanked the child but in the later segment they showed the entire clip after she put the child in the car seat it really looked like she punched the girl. Now that they have gone missing, I really can't believe there was nothing illegal going on.

They've only shown the full video a few times. The beginning looks like the girl is just getting a spanking but after the girl is put in her seat she was punched in the head repeatedly then viciously shaken.

Regarding the girl kicking her legs, my kids do regardless of the mood. They kick their legs when throwing a tantrum, crying, laughing, etc.

I saw an excerpt of the footage last night, and there's no question in my mind that this lady was punching out her child. I don't think her legs were kicking happily at all, rather they were flailing wildly in fear and pain. The news announcer said that she had been ejected from the store for making a scene with her child. If she'll whack her daughter like this in a parking lot in front of a store, what will she do in the privacy of her own home?

It simply ain't clear to me what the hell is going on in that car... And I noticed that little jump the kid makes at the end too. Could be one way or t'other.

Have to come to Texaggie 79's defense. The post states that the legs kicking, was confusing-not that they thought the mother was innocent. There is a quick segment of the little girls' legs, that for a second,the little girl's legs move as if she were on a swing, not clenched in a knee chest position or held straight out-if you watch the video in it's totality,you can see it. Texasaggie79 was making an observation on the motion of the legs,not exonerating the mother. The video is horrific and I have absolutely no doubt,that the child received a terrible beating and certainly not her first,but there is that segment, where the legs swing, which is the dichotomy that Texasaggie79 observed.

I think that child was probably kicking her leg because she was crying and maybe trying to catch her breath. The tape shows this mother continually punching the child in what looked to me like the head area. Punching back and forth, back and forth like you do on a punching bag!!!! That kicking leg could mean the child was in pain that was her way of trying to deal with it. We all shake a finger or arm or something when we get hurt or hit it. This woman was punching one right after the other on this child!!!
