When I was 18, I asked a priest about the anti-christ, because some kids were talking about the book of Revelations. This was Costa Mesa, CA, in 1969.
The priest patted me on the head and told me not to worry about it.
Needless to say, I left the Catholic church and became involved with the 'Jesus Movement'.
All of this to say, the problem with the Catholic Church is and always has been, the shelving of the Bible.

That's an ignorant statement and shows how little you know of either history or Catholicism. Jumping ship because of what one priest told you shows how shallow your faith was. You were just looking for an excuse to leave.

Guess you haven't been to Mass lately, then...First Reading--Old Testament; Responsorial Psalm--The Pslams; Second Reading--The Epistles; Gospel--The Four Gospels; Holy, Holy, Holy--Revelation; Lamb of God--Revelation; Etcetera, etcetera... Read the book "The Lamb's Supper" by Scott Hahn. Then tell us more about the Catholic Church "shelving the Bible."

No. The priest was right. If you're still worried about the anti-christ, the rapture, and other such nonsense, then the problem is not the Catholic Church.

It's you.

Just a minor pick, but its the Book of Revelation, not Revelations. John only had one revelation.

The problem with the "Jesus Movement" is and always has been their selective ignoring of Scriptures they don't like and can't explain, like John 6 ... Matthew 16 ... 1 Tm 3:15 ...

The Bible has always been an integral part of the Catholic Church! What sola scriptura churches neglect is the tradition!

Excuse me, but the bible has not been 'shelved' in the Roman Catholic Church. I'm a Roman Catholic Christian, and I see the gospel being proclaimed when I go to mass! Now I might not be the most disciplined, best-behaved, Roman Catholic Christian. But by glory, I don't believe the bible has been 'shelved' there yet! Not in My Roman Catholic Church! I don't know what Catholic church you're talking about!

Needless to say, you weren't much of a catholic in the first place if that's all it took to make you leave. Come on. What's irritating as hell on FR are phony "ex-catholics" telling us how horrible the Church is & how much better off we'll all be with ----whatever, name your sect of the week.Go away!!!!

That's probably what Jesus would have said. Worry about today. Do as Jesus taught. The antiChrist and the Second Coming (and waiting for them) is not the Christian's concern.

Needless to say, I left the Catholic church and became involved with the 'Jesus Movement'.

Very sorry to hear that you have fallen away from the truth. I'll pray that you find your way back.

This is a statement made out of ignorance, but I forgive you. For your penance, pick up a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church and start counting the references to sacred scripture. You can stop when you reach 1,000.
