Daeubler Gmelin, Bush and Hitler

Herta Daeubler Gmelin (SPD) is to have brought the hard attitude of US president to George W. Bush against Saddam Hussein during a trade union meeting with Adolf Hitler in connection. The Federal Secretary of Justice regarded the discussion alleged as an internal discussion.

Hamburg - with a war against the Iraq Bush wants to divert particularly from problems relating to domestic affairs, Daeubler Gmelin with a discussion with approximately 30 metal trade unionists in whose things (quarter from Tübingen) said, reports the "Swabian day sheet". Such diverting manoeuvres are a "popular method since Adolf Hitler", continue to quote the newspaper the minister. With it it wants to compare Bush however under no circumstances with Hitler.

Invited into the sport restaurant of the TV whose things the work councils and the unionized confidence people of the Tuebinger had metal companies walter AG and Flender according to data of the newspaper. The actual topic was "globalization in the working sphere", but the discussion soon on the Iraq came.

The main motive for Bushs hard attitude against the Iraq is not how often assumed the oil supply, has Daeubler Gmelin further said. Because: "the Americans have enough oil." The reason for the war preparations is to be looked for rather in the US home policy. Due to the economic crisis in the USA the popularity values of the president sank strongly. The minister: "Bush wants to divert from its difficulties relating to domestic affairs. That is a popular method. That already made also Hitler."

In addition the USA would have already alone because of the death penalty a "lausiges juridical system". And if then the today's laws had already applied against Insider business in the eighties, when the current US president was still manager at oil companies, "would sit Bush today in the prison".

Daeubler Gmelin is to have announced itself after the meeting to the "Swabian day sheet", in order to explain their remarks: "I compared not the persons Bush and Hitler with one another, but the methods." It was conscious it however not that the walter work council had invited also the regional newspaper to the discussion. After its understanding it concerned with the meeting an internal discussion.

"... a trade union meeting with Adolf Hitler in connection"? Don't you just love the Babelfish translations? I'm fairly sure they don't mean that Adolf was actually AT the meeting. Even CNN might have covered that.

As the actor playing Hitler says at the lunch table in Blazing Saddles,"This time, more Mr. Nice Guy." Another appropriate quote comes from Tom Lehrer, who referred to "our traditional friends, like Germany, and our current friends, like France."

Oh my, a spoiled leftover from the old East Germany. If this is the future of international politics, it looks a lot like the past.

Freepers who would like to let Schroeder's administration know your views on the Justice Minister's comparison of Bush to Hitler can go to www.Germany-Info.org.

I sent my email to the second address, in New York, and chose "German Foreign Policy" as the subject line.

Ask that your email be directed to the Ambassader, Wolfgang Ischinger.

Be nice. The Germans are doing some things right, such as cracking down on terrorist cells in Hamburg.

Appeasement is part of Europes national character. So they feel that if you oppose appeasement, you must be a war-mongering nazi.

Stupidity that extreme makes me wonder if we really have to rescue them from tyranny next time?

Schroeder deftly played the anti-American trump card to stay in power and distract from a failing economy. It's just what Stalin, Kruschev, and Brehznev did.
