RALEIGH, N.C. -- Democrats plan to clarify a television commercial accusing U.S. Senate candidate Elizabeth Dole of trying to "gamble" Social Security after complaints from Dole and The Charlotte Observer.

The 30-second advertisement, paid for by the North Carolina Democratic Party, began appearing Tuesday. It features images of elderly people discussing Social Security and photos of Dole over scenes from Wall Street.

Off the cuff proposal:

Bush ought to come out with a plan that does two things simultaneously. One, raise the benefits of Social Security by a nominal amount. Two, privatize the demon-spawned Social Security System.

OK, flame away.

Sure didn't take Bowles newly hired scorched earth campaign consultant long to come up with the same old crap did it? The dims need to realize they have a cancer and it needs to be cut out, treated with long term chemo, and they need to live each day in honesty, realizing their own mortality is fleeting and their legacy is forever.

Bush ought to come out with a plan that gets rid of Social Security altogether. Gubmint shouldn't be in the pension business at all.

"...a photograph of Dole, the top of The Observer's front page and the words: 'Gamble Social Security Money in Stock Market.' Dole never made that statement, and The Observer never characterized Dole's proposal as a 'gamble.' "

In other words, the ad is LYING?? Democrats caught lying again? I'M SHOCKED, I tell you, SHOCKED!

She ought to hold up that Texas county as an example of what a worker can get at retirement when they put their money in a real investment instead of in SS.

I believe these county workers ended up with $3000 per month retirement as opposed to $300 per month on SS.

Somebody can fact check this - Boortz uses it all the time as an example.

Dole just answered with an ad of her own - blasting the errors in Erskine's commercial while tying him to the lying *Crinton administration. Apparently, Erskine was for the increase in Sosha Security taxes. Dole's ad nails him!
