It truly boggles my mind the extent to which this entire family is utterly lacking in class. This sort of public display when she knows she is the target of roving paparazzi, aside from the tackiness of it, is just plain STUPID. For somebody who is supposedly being groomed to be the successor to the "Clinton dynasty" (gag - hack - spit) she is certainly tone-deaf to public image. Too many Americans (myself included) believe that there are certain female charms that should be reserved for the eyes of ones husband alone (o.k., o.k., I'll concede fiance or "significant other") and should not be flaunted in public.

I suppose Chelsea is the least blameworthy, as she is the third generation of tackiness and can't help the way she was brought up. But somebody her age should not still be engaged in amorous public behavior like a sluttish 15 year old bidding for attention . . . Ick.

I have to thank Utah Girl for that thread about the Exhibition Skating the following Saturday...it ran to more than 600 replies.

I knew about the "Nipple Erection/Popping" phenomenon in in Women's Athletics since the early 90's, but I haven't followed sports for years.

Thanks to Utah Girl's post, I tracked down the same effect in Figure Skating.

Look, I'm not trying to be gross...but if you had a reliable method to determine if an athlete, male or female, was in focus, or distracted, it would certainly help explain results better than the fluff that passes for sportscasting these days.

Since you asked, I think this is the very worst side of us. I think the best comments are tacky, and the worst of them are just downright mean.

I don't think it is Chelsea who looks bad in this, it is us. If I had recently converted some new FRiends to come to Free Republic, this is the kind of thread I hope they wouldn't see first.

You are absolutely correct. Any conservative interested in gaining support from those who are not especially political should actively discourage this kind of thread.

If nothing else, it's in bad taste. But I guess that's a somewhat outdated notion...
