[history]
The family of U.S. Rep. Patsy Mink, who has been hospitalized in the Straub Hospital & Clinic intensive care unit since Sept. 1, yesterday said Mink has "a hard-hitting pneumonia that takes time to overcome and heal from."
"The family has been advised to be patient while Mrs. Mink fights the pneumonia," according to the statement. "The family asks the public to be patient, as well."

Mink is a veteran Congressman from Hawaii. She has been hospitalized with chicken pox since August 30th and has since developed pneumonia.
Apparently, it appears she is getting better and will likely make a full recovery.
What do all of you think about this? If anyone knows more about wht is afflicting her as well as her prognosis, it would be appreciated.
Thank you...

My friend who had been recruited to run against her as a Republican of native heritage, but who decided against it at the last minute has got to be kicking himself at this missed opportunity to defeat her.

Republican or Democrat? At age 74, this "veteran" needs to retire.

Write-in campaigns work. Republican Linda Smith, WA, made it to Congress that way.

It's not too late, their still hasn't been a primary yet.
In fact, it is too late. I think I remember him telling me that the filing deadline was around July 26th or so. He got spooked out by some rich liberal RINO that threatened to run against him if he ran to ensure that the Democrap was re-elected.

Mink has "been very sick" for a long time.
She is part of the Socialist/Democrat Union machine.
If she recovers, the Circus might be a good place for her to retire...

Mink went to Congress on the same day LBJ was elected on his own. People in HA think she is some kind of oriental who is "loving," "caring," and can do no wrong. I would think she is as socialist as those three Vermonters, Leahy, Sanders, and "Farmer Jim." She was out of Congress for a few terms after running unsuccessfully for senatorand then made a comeback to the House about ten years ago, as I recall. This kind of pneumonia can be deadly, but perhaps she will son regain her strength and return to the House floor to work for her socialist causes.

She's a socialist, all right. But if she retires (willingly or not), I'm sure her district would find another one just like her to replace her.

"But not yet." I'm not sure the context of your comment, but if it is regarding Warren Zevon, it was reported yesterday that Warren Zevon, 55, died of inoperable lung cancer.

Your comment is in jest, I hope.
You would wish more Socialism and Union dominance and utter corruption on the citizens of Hawaii who are attempting to rid themselves of the yoke of the likes of Mink?

My friend who had been recruited to run against her as a Republican of native heritage, but who decided against it at the last minute has got to be kicking himself at this missed opportunity to defeat her. I kind of doubt it. Mink is sick and hospitalized. It makes it really difficult for her opponent to campaign against her--too much like picking on the weak, you appear to be a bully.
It's kind of like the problem Ashcroft had when Carnahan's plane crashed. How do you campaign in this situation without the press calling you insensitive?

From the Reuters story:
"I'm OK with it, but it'll be a drag if I don't make it 'till the next James Bond movie comes out," Zevon, 55, joked in a statement, released by spokeswoman Diana Baron. (The next Bond film, titled "Die Another Day," comes out on Nov. 22.)"

Oh, no, Vidalia, the people of HA have chosen the socialist route for themselves, as epitomized by the success at the polls of liberal Congresswoman Mink. I don't wish socialism upon them. I believe that HA has more state employees per capita than any other state. People in HA (and VT, for that better) just believe in the socialist model, and I don't think we can do a thing about it? There is, however, some indicated that this year a liberal Republican may actually win the governorship, but HA would still be within the liberal political orbit.
To: Theodore R.
Lingle is no liberal, and HI scuttlebut and HI monies are speaking loud and clear that the old crap ways are ruining the life of the state.
It is too bad Bernie Sanders got out of that weasal trap long ago...
