Lingle is no liberal, and HI scuttlebut and HI monies are speaking loud and clear that the old crap ways are ruining the life of the state.

I had read that Lingle is part of the "moderate" wing of the Hawaii GOP, whereas Orson Swindle, the POW who was "swindled" by Henry Ross Perot, represented the "conservative" wing of the party. I don't think the HA GOP has had a serious officeholder since the late "moderate" Senator Hiram Fong, who left office in 1977. If Lingle is conservative, I assume that it is a kind of "fiscal" conservatism and not "social" conservatism. (Is the abbreviation HA or HI?)
