Live discussion and comments about Bush's speech to the U.N. today, and the reaction to it.
Hope so, but I seriously doubt it.
OTOH, why did Brian Jerkface Williams keep asking other reporters on the first anniversary of 9/11, how much political capital Bush would be able to make [note the imputed intention that Bush IS TRYING to make political capital out of 3,025 tortuously murdered Americans].
The Letterman gig was either a late addition, or was purposely not promoted. When he was on CBS in my time zone, he was stepping on Hillary's interview with Chris Matthews. Too funny. Hillary is just NOT a happy woman these days. That makes me a happy man.
I don't doubt he'll be gone by then. Bush isn't sitting around and twiddling his thumbs. The wheels have already been put into motion. As he's said many times before, there will be operations that no one will ever know about. The weather is going to be changing in the later part of this year. I don't think the President really gives a hoot about Ramadan...he showed that last year. I think he's fired the warning shot to the UN, the next shot will be fired to the Congress. If those two affinities decide to sit on their thumbs and not get on board, he'll just do what he has to do.
It's now over a year since Saddam Hussein's terrorist proxies destroyed the World Trade Center and came within a hair's breadth of destroying the Capitol. Bush announced almost immediately that his policy was to remove Saddam Hussein. Today, he blinked, punting things back to the UN, which will now spend several months in games with Iraq over the weapons inspectors.
When Clinton decided to get rid of Milosevic, it took all of three months to accomplish the mission. What does Saddam have that Milosevic didn't have, that he can survive so much longer, while presenting an infinitely greater threat to the US? (Clue: it starts with "A" and ends with "X").
If you're talking about the 60 Minutes II interview, the transcript on the WH web site doesn't appear to be the right one.
You think Bush is going to wait for the U.N.? HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa!!!!! Oh! Excuse me...you did mean that as a joke right?
I know you are convinced that we are being blackmailed by Hussein, but I would remind you of President Bush's speech last night, and these words:
. And we will not allow any terrorist or tyrant to threaten civilization with weapons of mass murder. Now and in the future, Americans will live as free people, not in fear, and never at the mercy of any foreign plot or power.
I believe that the decision has been made to take Saddam out. I also believe that we will withstand whatever threats he has made.
Love it when Shep does that.
Our arsenals are refortified, we've got 100,000 soldiers in the area, our bases in Qatar are ready, the weather is cooling and I am convinced that if given the order today, we we'd have our Special Ops guys in Baghdad by October 15, our Marines by November 15, and our Army footsoldiers and infrastructure there by December 1.
The Iraqi people have no stomach for this. There was a special on the AH-64 attack copter, and they had cockpit video of Iraqi soldiers in Desert Storm walking up to their choppers surrendering. The CWO pilots are going "Are they surrendering? What the hell do we do with these guys!" LOL
The Iraqis remember the imminent and unannounced death that rained down on them, silent and unannounced, from unseen enemies in the sky during the dark of night. That's TERROR!
Saddam won't stay and fight. He'll bolt, he's not a martyr. He'll live well somewhere in Indonesia, he's a billionaire many times over. If he had the capability to launch a chemical or biological attack on Israel he would have done it by now. We control 60% of his country already. He doesn't have the rugged landscape or topography of Iran and Afghanistan. He's a bunker guy, and bunkers are easily found. His scientific work involves too many people, too many foreigners, to be clandestine to native Iraqis. Once Saddam is gone, we'll find every lab and every storehouse just through locals who are no longer terrified to talk and who have kept their eyes open.
Hey Rania! Have you ever heard that freedom comes with a price? Have you ever heard of freedom becomming a reality without the loss of some human life? You should be grateful that there are young American men out there who are willing to die to make your dream of a free peoples in the Middle East come true.
Well here's a big mega......
