The following is an open letter sent to the President of the United States. This was a joint effort amongst the three signatories. It was our desire to let our American cousins know that our Prime Minister's stance on Iraq does not reflect that of all Canadians. There are many of us up here who support the United States in the War on Terrorism, and are willing to state so without reservation.

Dear Mr. President,

As the eve of the anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001 approaches, certain Canadian citizens wish to express our support for the US in its War on Terrorism, despite our leader's failure to do so at this crucial juncture.

There comes a time when individuals must speak out when their leaders fail to do so. Mr. President, the leaders of Canada are sitting in dugout not willing to step up to the plate. Mr. President, our Prime Minister's failure to support you against Iraq is not indicative of the minds of all Canadians.

We need to stand united against evil and against those who would wish evil upon us. As Canadians who love our freedom and democracy, we know we must be vigilant in preserving and protecting our freedoms. In the words of John Stewart Mill:

"A People may prefer a free government but if, from indolence, or carelessness, or cowardice, or want of public spirit, they are unequal to the exertions necessary for preserving it . . . . they are unlikely long to enjoy it."

Mr. President we support you and pray for you. May God Bless you and protect you always.

I am one of many Canadians who fully supports America in this war. The airwaves will be filled with footage of 9/11 soon and I'm going to have a hard time handling it. I might post some pretty heavy stuff because my anger is rising as the anniversary approaches. Bear with me through this, please.
