Recently, President Bush visited Medford, Oregon, where he showcased his timber management plan for the national forests in light of this summer's horrific fire season. He toured a new burn and there gave an impromptu press conference. Later, in Portland, while the president attended a fund raiser for Republican U.S. Senator Gordon Smith, the downtown streets were thronged by roughly a thousand demonstrators of the sort the Beaver State is famous for, protesting the new timber policy and the president's upcoming plans to seek the resignation of Saddam Hussain.

Darth Vader-like garbed Portland police had their hands full, resorting to tear gas, rubber bullets and finally nightsticks to control the unruly crowd, many in bizarre costumes or black terrorist-like head masks. The scene was reminiscent of a bad acid trip at an old Halloween night Grateful Dead show...(snip)

This is a very well written article, and the history of the left wing lunatics who rule Portland, Salem, Eugene and Ashland. At this time I would not throw Medford into that mix of communists, watermelons and anarchists as the author did.

Thanks to the current left wing governor and his buddies the watermelons and the lunatic left press led by the Oregonian and the Eugene Pravda, the entire state is now suffering from a severe recession if not depression. Oregon has the highest unemployment rate of any state, and more people as a % of the state's population go hungery each day than any other state, a dubious honor 2 years in a row.

These same lunatic lefties, who have destroyed the economy of Oregon made it into a sanctuary for eco terrorist groups to live in and work out of. 60% of the eco terrorist crimes in America have happened in Oregon. The judges, the law enforcement and the people of Oregon instead of arresting, trying and jailing these eco criminals have made them into heroes.
