Old North State FReepers: Where do we go next?
Constitution Day ^ | August 28, 2002 | Constitution Day

POST-MEETING REPORT:

The first meeting of the newly re-organized NC chapter took place at Howlin's house on Saturday, 08/24/2002.

This chapter, called the "Old North State Freepers", has over 35 members.

The following Freepers attended:

Constitution Day
mykdsmom
Howlin
Overtaxed
ncweaver
RightOnline
RightOnlinesWife
Future Snake Eater
lafroste

Also attending were:
lafroste's wife
Howlin's husband & mother
Future Snake Eater's girlfriend

On the evening of Saturday, August 24, 2002, we all met at Howlin's house in Raleigh.

I primarily intended this to be a meeting where we could all get acquainted with one another. Everyone brought an appetizer to eat, and everything was delicious! Some of us brought beer or wine, some did not, but we all had a great time discussing politics & the news in Howlin's kitchen and on her deck.

Since I am new at this, I did not really have a set agenda for the meeting except for a general discussion of future goals and direction of the chapter. We talked about the fact that callisto, our Piedmont Triad Chapter Leader, has reserved a web page for us. Further discussion ensued about page content, using it as a clearinghouse for NC legislative contact information and media links.

For possible inclusion on a future web page, I would like for you all to post:

I thank you in advance for your time, and apologize for taking a few days to post the report. In fact, I am staying a bit later at work just so I can type this thread.

NC FReepers, I want to actually try and effect a change in NC politics, not just talk about it. I know that sounds ambitious, but I believe if we work within our strengths and target our energies effectively, we CAN and WILL make a difference.

Election Day is just around the corner. The recent redistricting has afforded us a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Let's make something of it!

FRegards,

Constitution Day

Well, I like to stand next to ya...

Thank you, Howlin, for hostess-ing the shindig! We really enjoyed ourselves very much, and, yes, you are too a wonderful hostess! Everyone felt most welcome! Good eats too!

Now, about that garage...

Hey CD, was that tinfoil hat photo that Howlin posted the other day from your Saturday meeting? If it was, that is just too weird... same thing happened at our meeting.

The photo sure was from our Sat. meeting!

I had to ping a bunch of people to your thread, CD... because I don't think anyone would believe me otherwise.

We were having a little bit of fun at our DC Chapter meeting on Sunday, and we all did the tin-foil hat thing, too. And believe it or not, everybody, the DC Chapter and the North Carolina Chapter did not plan this in advance!

It's nice to see a new Chapter with a seasoned sense of humor about themselves. You guys beat us to the tin-foil hats! Some day I'm going to have to meet you guys in real life.

Here's wishing the North Carolina Chapter a great run on FR and in NC activist circles! FREEP ON !!

Very smart move. You can either stay one step ahead or at least remain along side. You will never be behind that way.

It certainly looks like you have a good foundation for your new chapter.

Congratulations and good luck!

"There are many good conservative groups working on issues and chapters can get involved and partner with them and contribute to the effort. Or they can do their own thing, if no one else seems to paying attention on an important issue."

This is excellent advice Diotima, also watch who you partner with and make sure that their goals are consistent with and not subversive to the government - state or local - or detrimental to yourselves as a chapter.

Fine looking bunch of Freepers there!!!!

mykdsmom's tin-foil hat must have come from the same cybershop as mine. The only difference is mine had a spiral on top! Is it 'fools think alike' or the 'great minds' thing? LOL!

I was at the DC meeting and they were tin foil hatted also! When I first started posting a FR, tin foil hats were the "in" choice of headgear. I had never heard of it before.

Your's was "purty" too with that little spiral. Sho' would've looked cute with a tassel on it! I kept waiting for Buford P's beanie to take off - just like in the cartoons!

I say we have a 'tin-foil-hat' contest at whatever big Fr Rally we have next!

We have kicked around the idea of having a picnic on the Blue Ridge Parkway around Halloween

Hey you can include the SC chapter in on that one! We could all dress up like bill&hill and take turns scaring each other! :-)

Congrats on your new chapter! Let us know here in SC how we can work together. I'd drive a couple of hours for a good FReep!
