Were there no head injuries listed in the autopsy report? I remember Mrs Chief saying that the police placed photos of her husband in front of her and she said his head looked bruised or swollen.

I agree. Possibility of arson, though I also am no expert. What the fire report describes seems to describe a fire started by an accelerant, if not a fire bomb. Wall board calcified in just one corner of the room? Heavy wooden funiture complety consumed? Chairs in the next room only scorched? Sounds like arson to me.
The widows account of the fire sure sounds a fire bomb attack. Chief was working in the den, which has an outside sliding door, but his body was found in the lavatory. Hmmmm............
Do I recall reading about official obstruction when the widow tried to get the locals in investigate?

Do you know if there was a bathroom window?
Guess we do not always know what we will do when the tragic and unexpected occurs. . .perhaps a good example here to remind us to think about what we might do in case of fire. . .whatever the origins.

Herb Meadows brought me to Free Republic. He is primary the reason that I am here posting today.... I met Herb posting conservative comments on CNN .... we fought off the liberal wolves together many times and each of us was banned a couple of times. Actually I was booted off a couple of tinmes too but I am more careful with my posts now and do not look for fights.
I am deeply saddened by Herb's passing.
