Opie (left) and Anthony had their live show pulled yesterday after their St. Pat's sexcapade led to three arrests and outrage.
August 20, 2002 -- "Opie and Anthony's" live radio show was yanked off the air yesterday as WNEW-FM's owner fretted over the shock jocks' promotion of a sex stunt in St. Patrick's Cathedral.

Ridiculous punishment. Their prank pales in comparison to what the priests did to small children in those churches.

Their prank pales in comparison to what the priests did to small children in those churches. One has nothing to do with the other. What they did was stupid and offensive and an affront.
To: OldFriend
Exactly! Opie and Dopie get pulled, yet Cardinal Law and the whole NAMBLA priesthood enabling crew roll on. Simply amazing!

I think it's an appropriate punishment. I also think that the priests should face their own appropriate punishment, which will be significantly harsher. But one has nothing to do with the other.
So I don't have any problem at all with these a-holes being yanked off the air.

Not only that, it was a Hate Crime.

Noting that the FCC is responsible for enforcing laws banning "obscene, indecent or profane" broadcast If the St. Patrick's incident doesn't qualify as "obscene, indecent or (and) profane", we might just as well shut down the FEC.

I think the FCC should be able to enforce its own regs, on its own schedule, without worrying whether anyone else is enforcing theirs.
This is their domain. Criminal prosecution is someone else's. Firing priests is also someone else's.

What these people did was evil. There are no degrees of evil. It must simply be resisted and these dopes should be punished for perpetrating evil. I liken your argument to that of death penalty opponents; who say that the death penalty ought to be abolished because there are disproportionately more black death-row inmates than white. I say hang'em all!

Their prank pales in comparison to what the priests did to small children in those churches.Which priests? The Priests at this particular church? So those a-holes get to break the law? Who made you King?

As Don Imus observed:"They're(Opie and Anthony)Trying To Out Stern Howard"!I think that this was exremely disrespectful to Religion in general(particularly Catholics)!!I don't know what should be done except that people should TUNE-OUT on"Opie and Anthony"!!!!!!!

The re-run had Andrew Dice Clay discussing his relations with his wife....some "alternative". hahaha
I don't think they should be taking their games public like that (except to bars and such perhaps) but everyone knows what that show's about. There's an on/off switch and a dial, folks.

But the on/off switch and the dial aren't options when the "game" is taken public. The church-goers didn't have the option off switching channels while the guy was getting a hummer in the back of the church.

This is an an outrage.
People go to that church to pray for their loved ones who died in the World Trade Center.
To: Nonstatist; OldFriend
"OldFriend" should nevermind his despite of priests--ordinary PEOPLE visit St. Patricks to pray for their loved ones lost during 911.

"If these complaints and press accounts prove true, this commission should consider the strongest enforcement action possible against this station, up to and including revocation of the station's license," Copps said.
Just get rid of the "up to" part.
Opie and Anthony - whose real names are Anthony Cumia and Gregg Hughes - chuckled about the arrests on their Friday broadcast. But WNEW management apologized for the incident.
Slugs.

So I don't have any problem at all with these a-holes being yanked off the air. I agree--New York has been through enough in the past year without the antics of those slobs.

"Ridiculous punishment. Their prank pales in comparison to what the priests did to small children in those churches."What other inane comparison would you like to make? Opie and Anthony vs. Hitler??
