August 19, 2002 -- WASHINGTON - Andrew Cuomo isn't the only Kennedy kin whose political ambitions are running into trouble this summer.

Kathleen Kennedy Townsend - sister of Cuomo's wife, Kerry, and eldest daughter of the late Robert F. Kennedy - was supposed to be a shoo-in as Maryland's next governor, but suddenly, she isn't.

Ms. Orin was probably confused, so she left out Ms. Townsend's running mate's name. Even Ms. Townsend gets confused, calling him Larson one time and Lawson another. Here in Maryland we're not really sure what his name is.

What we do know is that up to a month before he was announced he was a Republican. What we also suspect is that he is very, very sorry that he ever agreed to run. Seems that she won't let him speak before black groups. She's afraid that it just rubs it in.
