The media have distorted and sensationalized her book about children and sex, author Judith Levine told about 100 people at a panel discussion Monday night at the Open Book in Minneapolis.
"They used lies -- outright lies and distortion," said Levine, whose book, "Harmful to Minors: The Perils of Protecting Children from Sex" was published this spring by the University of Minnesota Press.

"So not only are my ideas depraved, but I am personally depraved," she said. "This is the part that really hurts." But, dear, you *are* depraved. The truth hurts.

Yup and Judith Levine is no Ann Coulter when it comes to fitting her thesis into nifty sound bites. In fact its so repulsive I doubt either sound bites or helpful editing advice from Ann could make it acceptable to the public. Not even in this anything goes day and age.

What do you mean, after all NAMBLA has a nifty slogan: Sex before eight, or else it's too late! Just warms the cockles of your heart, doesn't it? (After you finish a little summary punishment with a very dull and rusty knife)

If you don't have an opinion about adults having sex with 8 year old kids then you are a sick sick person.

I read the book and was amazed at the one dimensional perspective she has about the "religious right" who she blames everything on in her book. Having been on both sides of the cultural fence I must say I have never read such an evil, knee jerk whine in years.......

Judith Levine was on "The OReilly Factor" trying to spin the same "points" this article is trying to make. She failed.

the national conversation about sexuality is dictated by the religious right. That ubiquitous Religious Right that Ann Coulter talks about stuck it's meddling nose into something it shouldn't have again! (sarcasm off)

"
Ken Darling, the moderator and vice president of programming for the Minnesota chapter of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association, which sponsored the event, repeatedly asked the panelists and the audience if a larger story was missed about how sex education is taught in schools."
Now isn't this interesting -- homosexuals sponsoring this particular event. Why are a bunch of homosexual journalists so interested in this particular book? And why the concern about sex education in the schools?

Uh, excuse me Ms. Levine, but if the Red Star Tribune is on your case, you are already on the slippery slope.
No one has ever before accused the Tribune of being part of the 'oh so horrible' religous right.

Why are a bunch of homosexual journalists so interested in this particular book? Because they are pederasts.
And why the concern about sex education in the schools?
Because that is their major source for recruiting.

That is what is so great about the first amendment (Freedom of Speech...)
Levin has the right to disseminate her drivel, and (the subsequent Freedom of Consequences) allow all of those who disagree with her to rip her a new one without breaking a sweat or fingernail.
But, being a far left liberal, I'm also certain that she feels that no one has the right to disagree with her, since the right of freedom of speech is reserved for those who agree with her.
If she was so concerned about the critical criticism of her publishing and the backlash of how the media and general public would perceive what she wrote, then maybe, just maybe, she should have not had the work published in the given form.
Personally, as someone who was nearly sexually assaulted at a young age, I would support her right to say what she wants, then tell her that she is full of poo and that she has no idea of what she is talking about.
I'm sure that she also thinks that homosexuality is cool, and pedophilia is acceptable as long as there is informed conscent.

While on the subject of pedophilia, Salon recently published this filth:
http://www.salon.com/mwt/feature/2002/07/22/coming_of_age/index.html
However, adolescence -- let's say starting at 12 or 13 for some boys, at 14 or 15 for a great many more -- is a different matter entirely. Gay men compare coming-out stories like kids today trade Pokémon cards, and over the years I've heard many tales of teenage escapades with older men, of sex with an uncle, sex with a married neighbor, sex with an unknown man driving a shiny Chevrolet, sex with a teacher. Sex in a park at night, sex in a train station toilet, sex in a stranger's home. Sometimes the sex was great, sometimes awful. Sometimes the experience was tender, sometimes rough, sometimes somewhere in between. Most of the time the kids wanted it, like I did; they were just a bit braver, or more desperate... Or maybe they were simply too horny to stop themselves.
We've got a major freep going in this thread...Link

Levine, a journalist for 25 years, suggested Monday night that her assertions are not so controversial, but that the national conversation about sexuality is dictated by the religious right. Here we go again: the mantra of the nihilists.
"Religious Right, Religious Right, Religious Right....
Nothing ever mentioned about the "Pagan Left" by Peter Jennings and his ilk, but they sure love to beat that Religious Right crappola, don't they?
Listen Levine...you are depraved. And your reaction is anger at those who point that out to you. Just as alcoholics don't like being confronted with their affliction, you lash out against those who have not given in to monstrous behavior.
Grow up Levine--or better yet, ask God for forgiveness before it is too late.
