JoeEveryman and the Anti-FReeper Attack on Free Republic

The anti-FReepers are on the prowl. As most of you know, there is a group of ex-FReepers who have been dogging us for the last several years. The anti-FReeper community was started several years ago by a group of disgruntled individuals who were banned from FR and then wanted to get back at us by damaging our reputation. This started out as petty name calling and rumor mongering, but they now appear determined to cause us as much harm as possible. Even to the point of attempting to get FR and FRN shut down and the owners and managers of the organizations bankrupted or jailed.

Some of the early members of the group include ex-FReepers Mojo, Aligyrl, Landshark, Z2, Headhunter, LindaM, and others who have come and gone over the years. The most recent additions to active anti-FReeping appear to be ex-FReepers Clarity, Clinton's a Liar and JoeEveryman.

There appears to be a certain love/hate relationship involved here. Some of these people hate FR and its PTB (that's "Powers That Be" in their lingo) with such passion that they cannot stay away. Some of the original members of the AF community have given up and drifted off, some have come back to FR, and some are as determined as ever to kill FR and have me and whomever else they can thrown into prison for whatever crimes they imagine us guilty. Their motivation is pure revenge. Their driving force is hatred.

Their current attack is centered around an attempt to break up the Free Republic Network and, through that angle, to cause as much damage to FR as possible. Unfortunately for all of us, there is a genuine problem with the ex-leader of the South Carolina Chapter. Apparently, there was some money collected for events that was never paid over to the vendors and the chapter leader is accused of taking off with the money. I am not going into all of the gory details here, but I understand that there is an official police investigation ongoing and the SC Chapter and the FRN are cooperating fully with the authorities. The anti-FReepers, led by JoeEveryman, are trying to gain maximum leverage from any fallout from this case and are attempting to use it to bring down FRN.

JoeEveryman ran an FR thread (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/728856/posts) last week on this subject. I eventually deleted it because it was turning into an anti-FReeper haven and I do not want that on FR. The anti-FReepers have plenty of their own websites to conduct their hate campaign. Those who are interested may find JoeEveryman (posting as "Panjandrum") on the LibertyPost.org forum, now appearing to be the latest home of the anti-FReeper community. I have undeleted the JoeEveryman thread for those who are interested in reading it, but have left it locked. I do not want any more anti-FReeping activity on FR.

JoeEveryman is now banned from Free Republic. It is clear on the thead that he ran here on FR and on this (http://www.libertypost.org/cgi-bin/readarticle.cgi?114+1485+0+1) thread on LibertyPost.org that his intent is to bring FR down and to cause us as many legal problems as he can. I cannot see allowing him to do this on my own website.

It appears to me that they are either preparing some sort of lawsuit and or are trying to entangle me, Bob J, FR and FRN into the SC case. None of us had anything to do with whatever wrongdoing may have taken place in SC. The South Carolina Chapter is an independent entity, as are all of the FR chapters, and neither FR nor FRN have any ownership or control over their activities. It appears that the anti-FReepers are trying to break that down. We'll see. FRN is cooperating fully with the authorities and I will too if they ask.

In the meantime, I do not want them scheming on FR so they are banned and will remain banned. I will also ban any other FR members who get actively engaged in this attempt to bring down FR.

A request to all. Please do not drag any of the anti-FReeper stuff to FR. I do not want it here.

Free Republic has withstood many attacks over the years, from both the left and the right and I am confident that we will survive this attack from this Free Republic Haters Association as well.

It's like a family. Is there anyone who hasn't butted heads with their wife, mom, brother etc?

Most of the time when JR hears from me it's because I'm upset about something. We place value on the priority people in our lives hence what they say, do and think is important to us.

That's why the AFs act like they do. They're like scorned children who've had a falling out with their family, FR was THAT much of a factor in their lives.

I'm starting to think that a yearly fee is the way to go. It would put an end to all of these mystery people (on various sides of various issues) just coming and going as they please.

Or maybe a system where after such and such date, all new accounts will have to register and pay .... or at least register and provide more than an email addy. After a while the disrputors, AFs, Chinese, Islamists, and pinkos would start to fall off.

The strife in the forum over the last year is worse than ever. I'm starting to think we can't continue to let people come and go at will anymore.

Dixie & other SC chapter members (Eyes?) -- I will never forget the wonderful time I had at the first SC conference at Middleton Inn. How good it was to meet you and the other FReepers. The SC Chapter is to be commended on putting it together -- it was just right!

A couple of years ago, at that annual Conservative conference in Washington, that individual went on record with reporters speaking for Free Republic. It caused quite a dust up. All complaints were deflected with the words "Talk to JimRob, he authorized me to speak for him." This person went on during that time to vehemently denounce any suggestion that FR was any kind of conservative force to be reckoned with - all the signs were there that this person had no love for FR as we understand love of our work or our causes. It was a power thing. From that thread - I made a note to myself that something like what you described in your post would be an inevitability.

I ain't understandin' how a crook reflects on their board. It happens. Seems ta me these chapters got started like any club does,what with like minded folks gettin together to discuss what ever interest them. Things go from there 'n soon they discover a National club, so ta speak. Takes money to do things, 'n soon the fund raisers begin. 'Lo and behold, along comes a grifter seenin an opportunity to take advantage of some fine folks, and does. Soon's the honest, decent folks get a grip on what's happenin,( sometimes that takes a while, believe me), they deal wid tha problem. Hehehe. Ain't no club I've been in tried ta do a background investigation on any member. With like minded folks, a certain amount of trust is a given. Leastwise that's been my experience. As far as the Dude not sayin anything about tha woman's background, that sounds ta me like SOP. Don't know personally of any man what goes about sayin stuff about a woman's past, probably told to him in confidence. 'Specially if she looks atcha battin those big eyes. Heheehe. I ain't sayin that's what happened here, ya know,just that it wouldn't surprise me if'n the fella didn't know exactly what to do with certain thangs. Heheehe. Now alla this is just my take on things, of course. Just don't seen ta me there was any intent to defraud. Sounds ta me like a fast mover came in and did what she did best, steal. If this ain't about the gist of it, lemme know cause the only crook I see is the one what took the money.

I consider my monthly contribution to Free Republic as actually a subscription to a service that I value to the extent that I am willing to pay for it. Like others who have posted regarding this assault on Free Republic and it's activities, I have seen it all before to one degree or another. There are always self-important individuals who get their meaning for life from tearing down achievers. I have great admiration for those individuals who make FR function. From experience in both leadership capacity and general all around volunteer where needed I know the hazards of building an organization or ad hoc committees etc. I also know the absolute necessity for Americans to take on the responsibility for keeping this country free. The time for giving a free ride to posters who use this forum for personal self-agrandizement has passed. FR is free to browsers and lurkers but there should be some fee for posting. Also, as to the financial end of the FR organization, I do not care where my small contribution goes anymore than I am interested in the financial end of any other service I avail myself of. I will leave when and if our common interests and goals diverge. I do not expect this to happen as I have great respect for the leadership of the FR organization.
