The anti-FReepers are on the prowl. As most of you know, there is a group of ex-FReepers who have been dogging us for the last several years. The anti-FReeper community was started several years ago by a group of disgruntled individuals who were banned from FR and then wanted to get back at us by damaging our reputation. This started out as petty name calling and rumor mongering, but they now appear determined to cause us as much harm as possible. Even to the point of attempting to get FR and FRN shut down and the owners and managers of the organizations bankrupted or jailed.
Some of the early members of the group include ex-FReepers Mojo, Aligyrl, Landshark, Z2, Headhunter, LindaM, and others who have come and gone over the years. The most recent additions to active anti-FReeping appear to be ex-FReepers Clarity, Clinton's a Liar and JoeEveryman.
There appears to be a certain love/hate relationship involved here. Some of these people hate FR and its PTB (that's "Powers That Be" in their lingo) with such passion that they cannot stay away. Some of the original members of the AF community have given up and drifted off, some have come back to FR, and some are as determined as ever to kill FR and have me and whomever else they can thrown into prison for whatever crimes they imagine us guilty. Their motivation is pure revenge. Their driving force is hatred.
Their current attack is centered around an attempt to break up the Free Republic Network and, through that angle, to cause as much damage to FR as possible. Unfortunately for all of us, there is a genuine problem with the ex-leader of the South Carolina Chapter. Apparently, there was some money collected for events that was never paid over to the vendors and the chapter leader is accused of taking off with the money. I am not going into all of the gory details here, but I understand that there is an official police investigation ongoing and the SC Chapter and the FRN are cooperating fully with the authorities. The anti-FReepers, led by JoeEveryman, are trying to gain maximum leverage from any fallout from this case and are attempting to use it to bring down FRN.
JoeEveryman ran an FR thread (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/728856/posts) last week on this subject. I eventually deleted it because it was turning into an anti-FReeper haven and I do not want that on FR. The anti-FReepers have plenty of their own websites to conduct their hate campaign. Those who are interested may find JoeEveryman (posting as "Panjandrum") on the LibertyPost.org forum, now appearing to be the latest home of the anti-FReeper community. I have undeleted the JoeEveryman thread for those who are interested in reading it, but have left it locked. I do not want any more anti-FReeping activity on FR.
JoeEveryman is now banned from Free Republic. It is clear on the thead that he ran here on FR and on this (http://www.libertypost.org/cgi-bin/readarticle.cgi?114+1485+0+1) thread on LibertyPost.org that his intent is to bring FR down and to cause us as many legal problems as he can. I cannot see allowing him to do this on my own website.
It appears to me that they are either preparing some sort of lawsuit and or are trying to entangle me, Bob J, FR and FRN into the SC case. None of us had anything to do with whatever wrongdoing may have taken place in SC. The South Carolina Chapter is an independent entity, as are all of the FR chapters, and neither FR nor FRN have any ownership or control over their activities. It appears that the anti-FReepers are trying to break that down. We'll see. FRN is cooperating fully with the authorities and I will too if they ask.
In the meantime, I do not want them scheming on FR so they are banned and will remain banned. I will also ban any other FR members who get actively engaged in this attempt to bring down FR.
A request to all. Please do not drag any of the anti-FReeper stuff to FR. I do not want it here.
Free Republic has withstood many attacks over the years, from both the left and the right and I am confident that we will survive this attack from this Free Republic Haters Association as well.

Yes Doughty, we do. And I'm sorry I missed this post the first time around. Here goes.
1. If this person knew of all this for 14 months, why didn't they crash the forum before this?
I really don't understand this question. Why would I "crash" the forum? All I did before the SC event last year, was relay to Jim my concerns and what I saw happening. How things were being arranged and communicated "didn't set right" with me, and when I received contradicting accounts of who would/would not attend I let Jim know that I thought the forum was being inappropriately used.
It's that simple. Did I have specific evidence? No. I had one person's word - who I trusted - vs. one person's word who was acting rather "shady" for lack of a better way of saying it. I trusted my instincts, and my instincts were right.
2. If this person's motives were on the up and up, why didn't they just provide the data to the authorities?
Because at the time I had no proof, I had no idea a "crime" was really in progress and all I had were my suspicions.
3. If this person was a friend of Jim's why did they do this just before a large event?
Because I do consider myself a friend of Jims (I don't know if he feels the same directly) and I was concerned the forum was being used inappropriately.
For the record, and for the AF'ers who are lurking: IMO Jim had no clue what was going on with the S.C. event. When I raised my suspicions (and there's the key word, "suspicions") he took action, IMMEDIATELY by pulling the advertisements for the event from the Forum. There's the PROOF that he didn't know up until I raised the issue with him.
I really wish you people on that liberty post site (Yes, I'm reading your thread and comments about me) would stop taking what I'm saying out of context for your own sick, twisted purposes. I bet they won't re-post this comment.

You obviously missed the trashing that I was subjected to by several members of the FAB and my attempts to present the little "evidence" I had and the logic/reasoning behind my suspicions. Jim, if you can find the thread posted by me in the FAB that starts with the words "An Open Question To" and re-post that, it'll answer Doughty One's questions.
5. If this person knew something truly damning, wouldn't you think they would use it rather than play silly games?
Prove this allegation that I've played any "silly games." This thread is proof that I didn't.
I'll tell ya, if I were Jim I'd simply delete this idiot's posts. This kind of activity is better remedied in court.

As I've noted before, you could read all of FR in an hour and make responding posts. I would read everyone else's responses the next day. It was always something to look forward to. [forgive me, English teachers]

No, I don't think I am. I think you're missing mine. Someone said that only pro-Bush opinions were allowed here, and I was responding, describing my own experience to illustrate that that is simply not true.

It's not different opinions that make me cringe. What makes me cringe is to read "conservatives" sounding just like liberals (and worse than liberals, in some cases) when they talk about President Bush. There's a lot of that here. A lot. That's not debate. That's bashing. They want to tar and feather the man, and a good portion of the time, they're distorting the facts to do it.
Now, if you would kindly respect my desire not to go too far off on a tangent on this thread, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I comprehend that a sick fool has spilled his guts on his "friend's" forum at a time when it could do his "friend" the most harm.
I have seen the posts threatening people not to delete threads since "the truth would come out in the end." The police are doing their investigation and the chapter involved is doing their best to cooperate. So you tell us what the purpose of your post was, since nothing more could be done than is being done. You explain why it is you had to do this on your "friend's" forum. We're all ears.
ROFL, as always. I've found that, sometimes, not having an agenda can be the ultimate agenda. It totally confounds and disorients all the other agendas. They just can't quite get a handle on you...
I might as well join the party too. What other website can claim so many loyal members? Those bitter AF'ers are in the distinct minority.
Then something will happen. Somebody will tell them to butt-out or back off, or something won't go the way they want it. Poof!!! The next thing you know they've joined the club or church down the road and are telling anyone who will listen what a bunch of creeps they all are in the other place.
Ah well. Life goes on. Sometimes the need to be somebody is taken a little far. This is, after all is said and done, just an internet site as others have already pointed out.
