Which State is the Armpit of America?

Ok fellow freepers. The aristocracy had fun deciding which 'hick town' was the armpit of America. Naturally it had to be rural and conservative. A tad redneck.
They were way off the mark. I would have picked New York prior to 9-11. I mean, good grief. Hellery's husband pardoned bomb terrorists to get her elected, the scandal is exposed to every New Yorker and they elected her anyway? She was silent on the issue for at least a week. But well, perhaps NY had been reborn in blood. So, I'm tempted to give them a pass.
Arkansas? Could that be the armpit of America? The home of NationsBank, Tyson Chicken, Walmart, Web Hubbell, and the Big Creep himself?
Then there is the delightful state of New Jersy, which is batting a thousand at elected scandal-swamped senators. Not only the Torch, but also Corzine.
Some might choose South Dakota. Not only do they keep re-electing Timber Tom [also called Rushmore Daschle], but they also go three days without brushing their teeth. So many choices....

Delaware's sinking but not to armpit level (yes, I know the roads aren't great).
So far, the States in need of political deodorant is a toss up between CA, NJ & MA. I vote for CA, the place really stinks now. It used to be so beautiful. RATS invaded the place. ~Pray~

"Louisiana gets my vote for one of the armpits of America. The cities are filthy, riddled with gambling and drunks, and the schools are some of the worst in the nation. If you move away, you're considered a heretic. Not my idea of a place to raise kids. And to think my relatives think that ugly, hot, mosquito-infested hell hole is "God's country". Cities are like that most everywhere. The schools are the way they are because of "de-segregation", which basically destroyed the state school system. Once you get out into the small towns and country almost anywhere, Louisiana is full of nice folks.

I can't agree that N.Y. is the armpit state....I don't want to get caught up in that type of topic. Let's just remember that Senator Clinton....got a lot of help in her N.Y. election from her hubby....who delivered lock stock and barrel the Puerto Rican vote which was substantial. Recall how that happened? Then Pres. Clinton simply pardoned all or most of the Puerto Rican terrorists...those that had killed on U.S. soil....bombed...disrupted.....and otherwise shattered our homeland. Of course slick Willy would pardon these people...against the urgings of so many government agencies not to do so. But...how else could Bill help his wife but by buying her these so called blood votes. The Clintons....both of them....are despicable people. I am utterly amazed at people who defend them. Pity!

What about Gary, Indiana?

What about Gary, Indiana? The closest I have been to there is probably Anderson, IN. But to think of Camden, think of Beirut with row houses.

I always heard it was the one you were stuck in when you were in the military, and far away from home.Well, I got Hawaii for 4 years.
Of course, Georgia for basic makes the top 2, Arkansas being #2.

I just turned 43 a few months ago, so I wouldn't say that it was THAT long ago ...... I moved from there when I was 8. We lived in a section that didn't have a lot of homes, it wasn't even a subdivision, really. Our back yards were all woods, and to the right were the Poconos, you could see them from the windows. We would walk down this path thru woods to the railroad tracks ( my brother loved that ) and watch the trains go by. The nearest city was Morristown. I imagine it doesn't look the same way today, the woods are probably all razed and it's a full fledged subdivision by now. However, back in 1966 it was a beautiful, peaceful place to live.

Morning radio just isn't the same since we lost Uncle Bobby.
Now WGN sounds like the DNC!

Seconded. California for sure. Run by liberal Democrats, for liberal Democrats
Call 'em what they are..Communists and Socialists. It is about time that they wore the label. If the "Red Shoes" fit make them wear them.

without a doubt, it must be Ohio. The absolute worst beauracracy I have EVER seen. and the people there not only tolerate it, but seem to know nothing better.

New Jersey. Too crowded and industrial and dirty. Of course, I'm sure there are some nice areas.....

I know the job market has been good in Georgia, but isn't there a very long commute for many who work in Atlanta? I've heard the traffic is terrible there. It would drive me nuts to have to sit in rush hour traffic for more than an hour. However, I did it when I lived in Houston, but that's one reason I don't live there anymore. Husband and I wanted to get out of the big city so we did, and life is much better and happier for us as a result.

I don't know any particular state, but, boy, I could name some counties for you!Let's start off with...
Montgomery County, Maryland!
And yes, I do live there...

But I nominate Chester PA as the crown jewel of east coast slums.Last time I went through Chester (1981), you didn't need to use an exit ramp. You could just enter the town by plowing through the chain link fence on I-95.

Arshole of the globe is Lagos, Nigeria.
Simple as that.
That is where GOD will put the big pipe when the time comes.
