I say he should..
Bill 'O is making a fortune, Rush Limbaugh is making a fortune.. The Conservative ideal sells, it's worth something and when given a chance we dominate in every way, shape and form..
So, what's so different about FR? Why should FR be exempt from these rewards?
Your comments please.

I have no objuection to it- if he can find a way to make this profitable for himself it is incentive for my FAVORITE (and pretty much only) news forum to stick around- YOU GO JIM!!
I suggest going public and/or trying to get a TV network deal with FOX

Uh, I believe there is a legal problem with making money by reprinting articles and such.
Besides, whose whining?
To: Jhoffa_
Would you oppose or favor Mr. Robinson making a profit from FR. No. Not a chance.
But, it's always been my understanding that if he operates the forum in a for profit manner, the leagal ramifications would be (how to exress it) quite complicated.
Solution? He should write a book.
Can you imagine that??? WOW!!!!!!!!

Through our freewill donations or a monthly charge? I say charge monthly to post, free to view, clean out the riff-raff.

It's not our call to make. It's his site. He can do what he wants with it.

I don't care for your whining either, but if someone is getting money, then he should get some.

PEOPLE, NOT PROFITS!
To: Jhoffa_
I see no reason why JimRob should not make as much money as Rush. I'd be sending some if I was gainfully employed at the moment
To: Jhoffa_
Wouldn't bother me any as long as I don't have to look at a bunch of ads or moderate opinions so as not to irritate advertisers. parsy.

As much time as I know he puts into it, I would not mind Jim making a profit... Why shouldn't he?
To: Jhoffa_
We should let the market determine such things. If that
is the case, he's probably being grossly underpaid, so
I believe that Jim deserves a pay increase.

Is this still America?
Of course he should make a profit if he can - and as much profit as he can.
I say Jim should be exploring the free market dynamic with Free Republic.

I think profits are evil. Jim should be doing this for the "social good." Any "profit" should be remitted to the government - he should be "giving back" after taking so much, after all. Besides, it makes me feel good to think that others are just scraping along.
But seriously, I hope some good comes of this thread and that those who work so hard to put this forum together can at least be rewarded with a good living.

Now that the lawsuit has been settled, I say YES.
Jim and John deserve to be rewarded for what they have done.
OTOH, if they both became rich, then they would be sued back into poverty. Sigh...
To: Jhoffa_
Yes, Mr. Robinson should make money from FR.

Well, duh - hell yeah. I mentioned that in my post to him today. If he is not getting rich of this (or at least making a good living) then something is wrong. I will personally put up $1 towards his pay, and if we get everyone else to follow it should take care of things nicely.
To: Jhoffa_
Jim and his son would already be multi-millionaires if they sold their home-built BBS software like VBBS does.
I still don't understand why they won't.
To: Jhoffa_
He should make money. He can keep my 25 bucks a month. (yeah, okay, I'm not rich)
To: Jhoffa_
YES, YES, YES. This site is an important source of information . . and lots of fun too! This is free enterprise and free press at its best. Why shouldn't he be rewarded for his effort?
