Informal Poll: Should Jim Robinson make money from FR?

I am sick of the whining about FR's finances.

Free Republic has become the Rush Limbaugh of the internet and all this complaining about who is doing what and profiting thus is making me Ill. It's a circular argument and I am tired of it.

Real Conservatives reward success. We honor it.

As a final end to this:

Would you oppose or favor Mr. Robinson making a profit from FR.

Actually, I always assumed he made some money, or at least earned a respectable salary. He deserves whatever he can get.

I donate monthly, and I view that donation as about the best entertainment and education value I have ever found.

The site does not promote itself as a charity. I simply assumed we were passing the hat around in cyber land.

If Jim can figure a way to get rich from the site, that is fine with me.

But, it's always been my understanding that if he operates the forum in a for profit manner, the leagal ramifications would be (how to exress it) quite complicated.

Only if the CORPORATION made a profit. I think the question was more to the effect of "Should JimRob be making money off FR?"

The execs at NPR, Red Cross, and the other "non-profit" corporations make quite-decent salaries

I think profits are evil. Jim should be doing this for the "social good." Any "profit" should be remitted to the government - he should be "giving back" after taking so much, after all. Besides, it makes me feel good to think that others are just scraping along.

But seriously, I hope some good comes of this thread and that those who work so hard to put this forum together can at least be rewarded with a good living.

Well, duh - hell yeah. I mentioned that in my post to him today. If he is not getting rich of this (or at least making a good living) then something is wrong. I will personally put up $1 towards his pay, and if we get everyone else to follow it should take care of things nicely.
