Informal Poll: Should Jim Robinson make money from FR?
Today, don't ask me to be more specific..

I am sick of the whining about FR's finances.
Free Republic has become the Rush Limbaugh of the internet and all this complaining about who is doing what and profiting thus is making me Ill. It's a circular argument and I am tired of it.
Real Conservatives reward success. We honor it.
As a final end to this:
Would you oppose or favor Mr. Robinson making a profit from FR.

I assume your referring to self-proclaimed "libertarians" who don't respect Mr. Robinson's right to run his website as he sees fit.
Laughable 'assumption'.
No one here is challenging JR's right to run his website.
If you want to be taken seriously on this forum you might think about cleaning up your anti-libertarian act.
-- In fact, JR has just formed a new forum that endorses the libertarian RLC position of the Republican party:

I like this post best... Ljr
Why? -- For what purpose? - To prove that I and JR disagree on some relatively petty points?
- That's a given. -- Whats it to you?

more than 2 hehe
Only legal obstacles prevent him from making aliving doing this. If those are cleared, or once they are, I hope he gets rich running this site.

Would you oppose or favor Mr. Robinson making a profit from FR.A profit???
Of course not!!!
Profits are for those sleazy greedy capitalists who oppose the masses, starve little children and throw grandma's in the street.
We want 24 hour, 7 day a week, 365 days a year free access to his property to use as we see fit with out any restrictions on what we say or how we act.
Long live DU................Oh' wrong web site.
All kidding aside, Mr. Robinson can make as much money as he legally is able to and I could care less what anybody thinks about it.
Shut this site down for a day or two and half of you folks would paid a small fee to browse and post again after having the shakes for a day.

I guess we can start an arguement over this. LOL! LOL right along with you!!
No need to argue.
I'm sure he'll say something if he wants to or maybe he'll just nuke the whole thread and everyone involved in it.
He can if he wants....
Exactly.
To: Petronski
Agree. Let's make him Chairman of the Board...:~) They get major big bucks...

I plan on continuing on as we are. There are no salaried employees at FR, but I do not make a secret of the fact that we take a draw. It's posted everytime our budget is mentioned on any of the fundraiser threads. Our current year budget includes nearly $9000 per month for bandwidth, programming and systems support (paid to John's company), $7000 per month for management and administration (me and Amy) and $3000 per month for legal fees. Plus we have office expenses, travel & lodging, maintenance & repairs, and other non-recurring costs. We estimate the total costs for 2002 to be in the range of $20,000 to $22,000 per month. And so far, the donation model seems to be working fine. If we were to commercialize the site, then we'd have additional copyright problems and I would just as soon not go there.
Thanks,
Jim

I'm with you Hoffa. Jim had an idea and he saw it to fruition. He should reap some apples.

bat-boy:
"Put up or shut up a**hole. Provide evidence that a libertarian has complained about the way Mr. Robinson run's this site? Or do you just like to "hear yourself speak"? "Easy enough to do:
tpaine: " No one here is challenging JR's right to run his website."
"I don't question his ownership authority. I question guideline usage and how fairly they are enforced."

Self-proclaimed "libertarian" tpaine has appointed himself Grand Monitor of JR & the Mod's "fairness" in enforcing guidelines.
If he was truely a libertarian, he'd respect JR's right to operate the forum in any manner he sees fit, INCLUDING the right to be inconsistant in enforcement of guidelines if he so chooses.

The hardcore AFers are something else. Like, if you hate the website... GO ELSEWHERE!! But they probably spend more time here than true believers, looking, always looking for a way to hang someone. Yeesh.
And since they rarely find something, they've come up with this formula: make a false accusation, repeat several times on several websites, upon rebuff disappear. Start over.
It's a world wiiiiiiide web, with a place for everyone. If the site you're on sucks, click the x in the top right corner.

Well Jim, a couple of times a year you should do the managing and ministrating from the beaches of Waikiki courtesy of FreeRepublicans.
To the Whining: There you go..
Conclusive proof, nearly to a man concludes that FR's finances are JUST FINE as is..
So piss off already..

I send money to my favorite gun magazines. And while I don't donate to them, I surely hope they remain in business and I understand their motive is profit. I would have no problem with Jim Robinson making a profit and I also would have no problem with others making a return on their time and effort (John Robinson, Badjoe, etc.). This site takes a lot of work. Their is nothing wrong with rewarding hard work.
