A few hours ago I was driving down my main street and I saw war protesters lined up in the commons protesting the up coming war with Iraq. I pulled around and parked in the parking garage and walked up to main street to a office supply store and purchased a poster board and marker and made my sign. I sat in the aisle and made the sign.
I walked out to the protesters and unfolded the sign and stood there. You would of thought a army had gone against them. They jerred me with will you look at that Bomb Iraq that is disquesting. One or two of the commies walked over and said they wanted to talk it over. I let them rant on while holding the sign up for all to see.
There were many thumbs up and horn blowing from people driving by. A War Vet and a few others came over to say what I was doing was right and Iraq must be stopped. Of course that began a war of words with everyone trying to shout out their side of the matter. The protesters tried to bring up Scott Ritter and all his BS. It did not work.
Finally most of them gathered their signs and left and it was just me and a few of the people that suported what I was doing and one war protester. Finally he was out numbered and left. He said they were finished with the protest anyway. LoL....
All in all it was a good day to protest the commie rats and their Anti-American spew....
I do.
I'd bet they have 'connections' with lots of countries. If the evidence is so strong, why not present it to the American people? You might not think so now, but in the future, if we go to war with Iraq, the people fighting over there are going to want to know what the "connection" is...I think this is a logical/reasonable request. I can't believe so many of my fellow Americans are willing to have our country get involved in this war without the consent of Congress and just because the president says so. What does Bush think? Does he think we are too stupid to see the evidence? Maybe he knows that most of us won't even ask. Honestly, it's scary to think about what a dumbed-down nation we've become. Does he have to hide it like Santa hides the presents for children? What's the big surprise?
No one is saying that the war will be without significant costs, in terms of body bags, oil prices, etc. The US will have to be willing to sacrifice, just as it did in WW2, to defeat the foe. If our citizens don't have the stomach for that, our enemies will take full advantage of that lack of will and use our freedoms against us. And eventually, you and I will be defending ourselves in our homes and our neighborhoods will take the path of Lebanon -- formerly a paradise that looked like Santa Monica and now a pile of rubble.
Our parents' generation had rationing of food and fuel, went without luxuries, and lost thousands of sons and daughters to get rid of a tyrant.
Thank goodness the country wasn't as cynical in those days. Or history would have been different.
I remember that before they kicked the inspectors out, Iraq said they just wanted the American inspectors out. It seems the Americans were all spies and Iraq found out.
Way to go TLB...you inspire the rest of us to do likewise; only thing I would have added would be an American flag; nothing drives them crazier than the red white and blue..... Lets Roll!
If someone in the government could present to all of us Americans exactly what evidence they have that Sadam was or is planning on being behind any terrorist attacks against Americans....then I would gladly agree that we should wage war with Iraq. I have not seen any concrete evidence and I think the American people deserve no less; considering the sacrifices we will be asked to make...some with their very lives.
....The US will have to be willing to sacrifice, just as it did in WW2, to defeat the foe.
But, this is not WWII.
If our citizens don't have the stomach for that, our enemies will take full advantage of that lack of will and use our freedoms against us.
What about our freedom not to have to go to war just because our leader 'says' he has 'some evidence'. That is for countries with dictators and Kings....countries like Iraq, I suppose.
Our parents' generation had rationing of food and fuel, went without luxuries, and lost thousands of sons and daughters to get rid of a tyrant.
There are tyrants all over the world. My grandparents generation was during WWII and I respect them for that. However, my parents and Aunts and Uncles were in the Vietnam generation. I respect those who went to fight there as well as those who asked questions...and especially those who did both. Those who went to fight and then came back and 'asked questions' were the ones who put an end to the whole war. I don't want that to happen again, that's for sure. Any war with Iraq must start on solid ground or it will be for naught, jmo.
Weren't they all, including Butler CIA?
I object to even spending money on nukes.
This whole situation would be instantly resolved by assassinating Sodom Hussein and everyone knows it. It seems to me that our biggest problem is finding out where the little viper is spending its evenings.
(Actually, our biggest problem really is that we're too chickenheartedly obsessed with "World Opinion", i.e. what the Eurofags think.)
Going to war just to get rid of one tin-pot dictator is just not a very creative solution to the problem. Even if we can't pinpoint Sodom's location accurately enough to facilitate dispatching him to Allah in a surgical fashion, we should be able to raise the stakes among his sycophants sufficently to convince them to stick a knife between his ribs. I mean, if they're faced with the alternatives of getting bombed back into rubble again and losing all their military toys and fancy houses and underaged boys, or ...just...getting...rid...of...this...ONE...jerk... one would *think* that even the most dimwitted of camel-jockeys could figure out which side of the camel to get off from...
But if not, well... His Vileness is almost certainly sleeping way, *way* underground in as hardened of a bunker as his borrowed third-world excuse for technology can construct, and it might very well a nuke to bust it. (I recall reading as much in an article on upcoming needs for military technology recently). And if so...
And he might just smack you back.
But my sign of choice would be, "GIVE WAR A CHANCE". That'll really drive them nuts.
