Hannity Blasts FreeRepublic (maybe he is right)
Radio | Sean Hannity

Posted on 08/02/2002 2:40:49 PM PDT by jbstrick

Hannity just stated on his radio show that he has just about had enough of the conservative cannibals on this board. To many threads end up being ledd about news and information and more about attacking fellow conservatives.

He said if he wants to get attacked he will go to a Liberal board.

I have a tendency to agree...

I'll tell you why that thread went the way it did...it was because the vile and disgusting tactics of Bushbots. After they had done their damage they tried to justify it by saying that Levin claimed GWB was the Anti-Christ. BTW, Levin NEVER made such a comment nor did he EVER infer such a thing. The Clinton sycophants have nothing on those people.

Who attacked him you got a thread?

I don't watch television but I will guess he was not talking about being attacked himself. But rather about the Knee jerk personal attacks here against those posting articles or comments not flattering to G.W. Bush and company. Or anything else that is considered heretical.

I am a right leaning Libertarian who agrees with most but not all of the opinions promoted here. I just read rather than comment most of the time because of the silly name calling attacks any kind of dissenting opinion draws.

Hey a little constructive criticism never hurt anyone except maybe feeling worn on the cuff i think if your that sensitive to it maybe a person shouldnt sound off .....that being said alot of people who reply on FR arent even conservatives while different veiws can be helpful those veiws that are criticle of conservative ways arent usually welcome because they seek to rip apart our veiws for tha sake of the opposite veiw[socialism/communism | dem/libs]

Of course this excludes those of us who will say stoooopid things just to get a rise out of our fellow freepers

Another lil backhanded slap from you, Krissy.Guess we aren't intelligent and mature enough for you, are we? For a guy that pleads for civility, you once again can't resist a biting barb to get your licks in, can you? I wonder how you make it through the day when so much offends your delicate nature.

You are even more of a transparent hypocrite.

Wow, how enlightened. I applaud your research, and eloquent paragraphs, about the fact that GWB is doing a pretty darn good job.

I grow tired of so many here, who have all the time in the world to bash (anyone, conservative, liberal, Hillary, etc), but have NO time to get off their butts and, as you say, go door-to-door to help our overall effort.

I'm not familiar with the exact exchange between Hannity/ about Levin, etc., because I have been busy: out organizing, and encouraging others to help.

Maybe that was part of Hannity's point: that FR(eepers) need to put their money/time where they fingers are: TO WORK, DOING SOMETHING, ANYTHING, TO HELP THE CONSERVATIVE CAUSE. Not just talk about it........

Let me restate my above sentiments: NO SINGLE FR POST HAS THE POTENTIAL TO ELECT REPUBLICANS/CONSERVATIVES. BUT A SINGLE FR POSTER HAS THE POTENTIAL TO REGISTER REPUBLICANS, AND GET VOTES BY HELPING!

People taking themselves too seriously. Only about 110% of people in the DC Beltway have that affliction. And Freepers do too, as least on navel-gazing threads like this one.

It is my contention that Hannity was not upset that somebody here slammed him in particular; rather that the level of discourse here is no longer civil, and has become more like schoolyard full of bullies who will beat the crap out of anyone who has the gall to offer a differing opinion than that of the bullies.

Hannity is not a blind man when it comes to Republican policies/politics. He has differed with the current administration on a number of issues, and he does so in a civilized manner. He is neither a blind cheerleader nor a sideline sniper.

I believe that a very good example of Hannity's beef with FR can be found on the thread where the usual cast of bullies showed up and ripped into Mark Levin (aka "holdonnow") on the Bush Middle East Speech discussion thread, which I have linked below:

Mark Levin came onto the thread at #458 - See for yourself who started slamming who, and if this is what you want FR to look like for all the world to see.

JMO YMMV

Cattle and Sheep all agree and move in tandem to only one leader.
Liberals are all group think.
Liberals are all sheep and blather the same talk.
Liberals love the boot heel - most when it's on someone else. The herd moves on in hopes they won't be next victim of predation.

Unfortunate some Liberals are masquerading on Free Republic.
Unfortunate some posters who think they're conservative... ARE NOT!!!
They still believe in the Great State! It cures all that ail them!
I see alot of stupid hit and run comments with absolutely nothing of redemption to other posters.

The lowest common denominator still wins on most of these public boards.

Conservative thinkers do not move in lock step like a Liberal.
They air there differences and hopefully can come to some points that are at the base of a conservative philosophy.

Most other countries that are not free or socialist always misinterpret America.

They think we're in chaos... but when the rubber meets the road - they can never win any struggle of American will.

America can change on a dime like the Weather.

The Liberals are poor weathermen!

Freep needs moderators.

Our Governments don't run like this!

Even this board needs rules and decorum.

I find this board amusing and witty - but all too often - it breaks down.

Posters are only reacting to events - much like the knee jerk Liberals.

As if a reflection of our times - they relentlessly snipe like a drive by shooting.

I see Free Republic as a True democracy.
It starts to resemble a Mob somethimes - no rules - anarchey and chaos creeps into the equation.

America is a Republic! We elect by forming Representative government.

This board does not reflect a Republic... but a democracy I'm afraid.

The Nation is loosing its limitations on government and the enforcement of laws!

Sean Hannity does have a point - but he hasn't defined his views.

Oh - Maybe our Senate is starting to take on what England has had... "The House of Lords".

It's starting to look more and more like a Ruling Class.
The Houses of Congress operate like Lawyers who at the end of the day... chum around and seem to have no partition of ideals.
They're out of touch and entrapped by privilege.

It's like a charade - an act - on the World stage.
I see few true Statesmen anymore. Newt tried.

I see most Politicans AND the Media no longer respect the Individual.

They pander to the herd. Through fear - insecurity - anxiety - doubt - slanted polls and statistics. Listen to the political commercials.

The Statesmen has been replaced by The Statist!

The Fourth Estate (Mass Media) is long dead in the Country.
The Fourth Estate that owns the Ink and the Air Waves are managed by extremely Liberal and no longer objective thinkers.

The Freep and the Internet News sites are our only Salvation.

Maybe the Impossible Task is the Dark before the Dawn.

The last Elections I hope were the pendulum and 9/11 the gravity to swing our Nation back to a true American Destiny!!!

God Bless America.
Wakeup Freedom.

Not sure how Carl Sagan's name was brought into this discussion, but he was an Astronomy Professor at Cornell and heavily involved in issues of nuclear disarmament. His name was mentioned a few days ago at a public meeting on the same subject -- the speaker was Helen Caldicott, founder of Physicians for Social Responsibility and she warns of what Sagan had called a nuclear winter -- you might want to read her latest book: "The New Nuclear Danger: George W. Bush's Military Industrial Complex".

I thought Sean's comments were pretty callow, actually. Does he think he's beyond criticism? Is servile agreement with him more important that having a robust debate of conservative ideas and ideals? Of course not!

You stated my thoughts very eloquently. I was really surprised to hear him say what he did; it made him sound like a crybaby. Does he think we should turn him off when he criticizes Bush or any other Republican?

Ann Coulter, in her new book, apparently says that she loves FR, and she has certainly taken a lot of criticism here.

He attacked FR when a college student called him and prefaced his remarks by saying "hi" to "all my Freeper friends." That's when Hannity said that he is getting tired of FR because we attack conservatives. He said something like, "They've attacked Rush, they've attacked me..." He really sounded like a crybaby. You would think that someone in his business would have thicker skin. How can he claim to respect people for thinking for themselves and then whine when someone criticizes him here? You think he'll come out with a line of Hannity Kool-Aid?

Just a side note: I tried to call in last week. That Flipper is really rude!

I agree! My favorite president, so far, which is Reagan didn't meet my wishes 100%. Come to think of it, neither has my pastors. My father is my hero but I even disagree with him from time to time. That doesn't mean I don't like or appreciate any of them (I would never choose a new dad) but means that we aren't clones. I'm not a one issue person and don't expect utopia in four or even twenty-five years unless I pass on. Hannity is one of my favorite commentators but he isn't perfect, either. I think he was referring to the bashing and name-calling a few posters initiate when they get frustrated. Words must fail them.

You a conservative, MurryMom? Or you're just telling us conservatives who we should like, eh? Yeah, we've seen quite a few "newcomers" to this site, telling us conservatives what we should be thinking! LOL!

No, she's not new. She is a hit-and-run disruptor from way back. The best way to deal with her is just to ignore her.

The Peace Sign and the Greens came from Europe.
How did they come over with the Beatles.
Did Reagan define a Virus?

He defined the moment shortly after Eisenhower and before Goldwater's defeat.

How did Entertainment and News gain such influence into the fabric of America? Was it Television? The picture to imprint the mind?

The Sexual Revolution - Women are equal or Superior - Men are inferior or defective - The Horror of War turned into a Game - Mutual Assured Destruction - The Space Race - The Peace Corp - Walt Disney - Game Shows - The Cultural Revolution - Make a Change in the World - Class Envy - Race Riots - Election Projection - Hysteria - Over Simplification - Sensational Hype - Bigotry - Political Correctness - Tort Law - Spin - Fifteen Minutes of Fame - Assassinate the Famous = Fame - Twenty Second Sound Bite - Prime Time - Rich and Famous - Glamor - Pornography - Glitter - Tinsel - Reality TV.

A Nation formed by Rejecting all other forms of Government... Prevails on the World. How has affluence and influence turned into self-loathing? How has the good life and freedom turned to guilt?

How have we lost site of the power of communication and human weakness to such vividness and lurid sensations. Emotion versus Logic. Feel good versus Hair splitting.
Escape from Reality versus Critical Thinking. Intellectual Thinking versus Common Sense. Rejection of Reality (Fantasy)versus Philosophy.

Has the Internet helped bring back "Words have meaning"? Ideals have consequence? Does Virtual give more meaning to Real? Passivity versus Interaction? Fabrication of Vision versus Stimulation by the Individual Mind?

They (the left in Media) call Clinton a great politician.
Is Bill the great Commander of Sophism?
They always comment on his ingenuity and creativity to deceive. The wonder of not telling the truth. And Bill Clintons comment of "Truth Detector" is so revealing of sophistry. And don't forget the book "The Politics of Meaning" - the Clintons seminal belief system.

The entertainment industry and make believe - Sales and Marketing find the Medium of Broadcasting.

Has the politician lost site of the message and been taken over by the Medium?

We're constantly deceived by Fiction portrayed as Fact.
Being told what we want to Hear. The Ideal is normal.
Reject yourself and instant gratification.

No Country is ideal - yet the Liberal rejects and objects when the ideal is not Real. Somehow the virus that infects them - makes them speak for all... through the broadcasting Mediums and Fame.

The most egotistical seem to be the Famous.
They run to the Medium of Broadcasting - Hollywood - Politics - Institutions of all types including Education.

Why are they so Liberal? Clinton possesses all these traits!

How did Reagan beat them at the Game?

Just so much irony for me to get it all layed out.

Forty years of Cultural War - will more wake up from the virus!

I'm not sure - The Generations have a circular effect.

Don't give up on America. It can change - unlike Socialism.
