Hannity Blasts FreeRepublic (maybe he is right)
Radio | Sean Hannity

Posted on 08/02/2002 2:40:49 PM PDT by jbstrick

Hannity just stated on his radio show that he has just about had enough of the conservative cannibals on this board. To many threads end up being ledd about news and information and more about attacking fellow conservatives.

He said if he wants to get attacked he will go to a Liberal board.

I have a tendency to agree...

Why don't you translate it for me, since you apparently understand it and I don't.

35K? Is that a fact? In any event, 4 billion is about 2 hours of federal income. That hardly dents the glacier.

/sigh 5 billion of foreign drug war money + 9 billion for prison time + a few billion for just making the arrest + funding for DEA etc that alone starts to add up to real money. You are a pork barrel politician's dream, you dismiss things compared to the federal budget, but when added up cost a fortune.

Anyway..
1998 report by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) estimated the economic costs of illegal drug abuse in the United States to be $97.66 billion in 1992. Sixty percent (60%) of drug costs were due to drug-related law enforcement, incarceration and crime. Only 3% of drug costs were from victims of drug-related crime.

60% of 98 billion is a heck of a lot of money. (hint: its around 60 billion annually). Over a 10 year period (assuming it has/will remained stagnent which isn't likely as funding has increased every year), thats closing in on 1 trillion dollars saved.

FreedominJesusChrist wrote: Was that a permanent policy though? No it wasn't, and my main point about Bush and Ridge encouraging Congress to review the Posse Comitatus Act, is that they seem to believe that arrests, searches, and seizures, should be permanent responsibilities for the military.

This does not presage a police state.

In this age of bio/chem/nuclear terror the military is the only organization which will likely be able to handle some threats.

Some limited police powers would make their job easier and the public safer in these threat situations.

That's all

Why is it that all libertarian roads seem to lead to drugs these days? I would hate myself to have to always go in one direction.

Free speech is about free expression of ones opinions , thoughts and ideas. The freedom to criticize.

If we supress , opine , and ridicule others right and freedom to criticize , then we have no right to criticize about ONE thing , EVER , ABOUT ANYTHING .Do we want totalitarianism within the Republican Party ?

The amount of criticism one Party gets from it's own ought to be a humble measure to those in office about the need to change . If not , then what is the opposite of humility ? ARROGANCE and ELITISM.

I love Hannity , but why being a TV and radio Conservative talk host , is he critcizing others free speech right to criticize , when he has more time on his hands to criticize and the free exchange of thought than the average person ?

I have seen and been the victim of this attitude in my own local Orange County California Republican Party Central Committee grassroots establishment , which would also inclue the Anaheim Republican assembly . People are allowed to get away with absolute HELL in this County Republican establishment because of the very same attitude of Shawn Hannity's : other's are ridiculed for standing up to egregiuos wrong and abuses going on within. Is it any wonder the Republican Party is struggling so much ?! We need refornm across the country within the Republican Party , and we need others to run for office to get the job done !! .

The fact is is that President Bush has hurt Republican's chances of keeping the House and getting back the Senate. Folks let's face reality . Hannity criticized Bush about his handling of Isreal ( Bush telling Isreal to restrain itself and back off of it's offensive against terror). He has criticized Bush on air on his radio program saying Bush has governed as a liberal , and that President Bush is in danger of losing in the 2004' Presidential election ( Hannity went through a long list of items ! Should Hannity be censored and critcized for that ?! ).

The vocal voice of the base of Freerepublic.com and Republican the Conservatives base across the country should be an admonishment and a wake -up call to The President , the Republican Senate and the House that we will not stand for a Republican President ,and Senate acting like liberals , giving the Democrats what they want to the degree that President Bush and Trent Lott has .

As a result Of the way President Bush has legislated , it will be a miracle if we keep the house and get back the Senate . This should not be . What FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION FREEREPUBLIC members are saying is this : Listen , speak , and and act like a Conservative Republican , or we will work to get others voted in ( even run for office ourselves ! ) who will get the job done. Sincerely , voa-davidk 8/20/02 **** Voice Of Americans **** Committees Of Correspondence PAC , VOA /COC / P.O. Box 5053 , Anaheim Calif. 92814 8/2/02

Why?

1)Economic costs
2)Constitutional costs
3)Illogical considering several legal drugs are far more harmful than some illegal ones
4)Expanding the federal governments powers
5)True belief in liberty.

I mentioned several things however that were not drug related. NEA, Foreign Aid, IRS. I'll add some more. Welfare, SS, medicare.

"Why is it that all libertarian roads seem to lead to drugs these days?"

LOL! That one was funny. Every political party has a soapbox or two. For Libertarians, it is drugs. I like a lot of libertarian principles, but cannot get over their stance on drugs and intolerance for the Religious Right in America. That being said, I still respect my few Libertarian friends.

SS, medicare.

Somehow we suddenly stumbled onto something here after getting off the drug craze. What are we to do with those?
