Agree completely. Russert was frantic in his questioning, breaking in, very impatient, completely rude. He looked like a college newspaper reporter trying to impress his professor with baiting questions. Unfortunately for him, O'Neill answered very calmly, and explained the answers well ... when he was allowed to finish. I hope Russert's performance is panic driven in that he's afraid the market is beginning a turnaround and the RATs won't have an issue going into the fall campaign.

I turned on C-SPAN radio (on the rerun) for less than five minutes while fixing coffee and heard your call. It was one in a million!!! Brava! You did not sound nervous at ALL! I was wishing that I had it taped to share with others!

O'Neill is too much of a nice guy, and Timmy knows it, hence the shark attack.
Brit Hume's interview with Secretary O'Neill was a huge contrast in civility. They both used calm voices, yet asked and answered pointed questions:
In response to Brit's worries about CEOs signing off on company financial statements, O'Neill said it would not have taken one more minute of his time as CEO of ALCOA. He always knew what was in his company's books.

Doris Goodwin says that Bush doesn't have a fire in his belly when it comes to criticizing corporate malfeasance, unlike his response to terrorism, therefore the citizens don't believe he has the same commitment to cleaning up the boardroom as he does to fighting terrorists. Duh..
Jeez, Doris, do you and your fellow RATs think he should have the same outrage for a cyclic plunge on Wall Street as he had for terrorists that caused real humans to plunge from the 100th floor of the WTC? Give us a break!! Real Americans outside the beltway, distressed as they are about current stock market conditions, know the loss of thousands of lives compared to thousands of dollars just ain't the same. What a dolt!!

Morning Dave, from the other side of 40.
The only I've found to watch DKG is to picture LBJ holding her by the ears, like his beagle (but for other purposes).

Doris Goodwin says that Bush doesn't have a fire in his belly when it comes to criticizing corporate malfeasanceThe networks are reduced to putting an academic thief on camera with a fantasy explanation of something she knows nothing about. This really is a new low.

I am so sorry I missed CSPAN this AM. Thank you so much for calling in and stating that question. God Bless you for your tenacity. I used to call in but now I either get the busy signal, which we are all used to, lol, or it rings until the operator comes on with the recording. I am begining to suspect they have my number on record and refuse to take my calls! LOL. Simple paranoia. I know!
Would you elaborate on the response you got? I am so curious!!! Meeeeeeeeeeeow!

I LIKE O'Neill.Me, too, Clara Lou.
I think he is very effective in his low key way and the contrast to Russert's hyperventilation today was reassuring to me.
I liked it when Russert quoted some paper about "the recession" and O'Neill said "anyone who thinks a one quarter downturn is a recession, well, bless them, but they are wrong" (paraphrase).
