Watch and pray. The rescuers are optimistic that they will reach the cavity where the miners are located by midnight, perhaps as soon as 10pm et.
They just reported that several PA miners were caught in a similar situation thirty years ago AND WERE RESCUED ALIVE AFTER A WEEK IN THE HOLE.

Geraldo says the broadcast will continue until a resolution is reached.
God bless those workmen, and God bless our accidental Governor Mark Schweiker! (Mr. Schweiker, please run for Spector's senate seat: you are a good man.)

Rescuers are reportedly less than 15 feet from stricken miners. Pray, people. Please pray.

Thank you very much for this update. Both my husband and I have been praying for these men.

There have only gone 3 feet in 3 hours. Also, They had a seal broke, so they have to fix that before they can continue. The local newperson just said it may be after midnight. They said that once they brake throught it will be a hour before they can actually rescue them. Once they do start it will be about a hour to bring each one up

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/723350/posts?page=36 This thread has been going on for a while. Fifteen feet could be a long time. They were at thirty for a long time this morning.I am aware of this thread and have been following it. I don't mean to step on anyone's toes, either. I just wanted to provide a thread with a headline at the top of the 'breaking' queue which indicated where to tune in to follow the vigil.
I hope I have not violated any protocol.

And I forgot the time required to extract the bit. God help them.

I used to be involved in the sport of cave exploration and used to read stories of cave accidents. Cavers being trapped by water was one of the most frightening and sometimes heartbreaking of events. In many cases, the cavers seemed to survive as long as one member of the group had the will to hold everyone together and keep everyone's will to live going. When that will was lost, everyone died together within a very short period of time. I had a friend who years earlier had been trapped by rising water. It was a rough experience, but they held on and waited for the water to recede. When it went down, they crawled out. We can only hope the best for these men and hope that they are rescued soon.

These are the men who crawl deep into the earth and mine coal so I can sit here with my air conditioning, computer, lamp and big tv, just killing time. My dad was a miner, and he's told me all I've ever needed to hear.
Anyone who wants a deeper appreciation of the character and bravery of these men should read Orwell's "Road to Wigan Pier." It is a paean to socialism, true, but it also describes the intolerable subterranean journey the miner would take just to get to the vein where he would work his shift.

Eleven feet left to go! Every inch is precious.

Less than eleven feet to go. Eighteen helicopters standing by to whisk these brave souls to Johnstown "Miner's" Hospital, or UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center) in the Oakland section of the 'burgh.

My prayers are added for these souls. Also I appreciate the real time FReeper reporting because I am cable-free here. Thanks.
FNC was doing an excellent job reporting on this story, that is until Geraldo showed up. He is the Larry?! Klayman of journalism.

How come he isn't running for Gov?

Sorry for this.
Did anybody actually read the headline? For a while there I thought I was back in the Clinton years!
