My dad got Malaria in Ethiopia. It took him awhile to get back to normal.

Hey...I understand your reaction. Unless you lived with it, who would know....
Most young doctors wouldn't pick it up... when dad got REALLY sick, his docs were his peers, were also WWII vets or a little younger....so they saw it all around.
I am very pro government military wise and not conspiracy theory but I wonder whether there is more to the Gulf War stuff.... No tin hat...just something to look at...

He took his kids to Africa during the Christmas holidays, if I remember correctly, to show them where he worked while he was in the Peace Corps back in the 60's. Chris was on a super luxury wing safari, hardly what his peace corps experience was like.

Another historical note:
Jefferson Davis suffered from recurrent bouts of malaria his entire life.

Loooooong road trip. That's one of the things I like about Apalachicola. It's very remote, 90 miles to the Interstate. How many places can you say that about anymore?

And.... Salt Water Taffy was invented in Atlantic City.

"That's one of the things I like about Apalachicola. It's very remote, 90 miles to the Interstate. How many places can you say that about anymore?" Yup. Northwest Florida is a great place. (conservative too!)

He hates the Clintons and has gone out of his liberal way to bad-mouth both Bill and Hillary.Where did you get that info from: the democrat media handbook?
Chris Meathead doesn't hate the Clintons. He hates what they did to the office. The ONLY time he bad mouths them is when his ratings were in the toilet. He is a golden kneepad sycophant. He just tries to hide it so his show doesn't turn into Larry King on CNN.
He also hates most Republicans, and support most other Democrats.
NO, He hates ALL Republicans except moderates, which are mostly RINO's anyway.
He worked for Tip O'Neal.

That was totally uncalled for.
Matthews is most likely the victim of a bioterror attack. You should pray for him even if he's a Catholic like me.
To: Fred Mertz
I have malaria three or four times a year. It is no worse, when caught early, than the common cold.
I don't go to the hospital for a cold, nor a stubbed toe, NOR FOR MALARIA.
I usually continue to teach my six graders. It is no excuse for malingering.

My dad had this and he was sick as a dog. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. Hope he gets well quickly.

My dad had it and it flared up every so often but eventually got out of his system.

There is a good little history of the DDT situation and that mass murderering (as a result of the banning) Rachel Carson in this article:
Horror on the Hudson
(Very long, and very good.)
To: RichardW
I knew a man who was in Africa for a few weeks and didn't follow up with his anti malaria drug. He died from the disease.
I think like any disease, you can have a mild case or a severe case.
I think it's uncalled for to make fun of someone whose suffering from a disease. I don't care what their political persuasion is, do we need to lower ourselves to the point that we delight in someone else's misfortune just because they're a Democrat?
