The good news is that once they burn, it won't happen again for at least 50 years. Not to mention that the haze thereby created may chill global warming a bit.

Kaczynski, Dr. Victor J.; Wallowa Whitman Nat Forest; Tanner Gulch Fire Thunderbolt Wildfire Recovery Environmental Impact Study; USDA Forest Service. Spokane, WA, 1995; "No single forest practice - not timber harvesting, nor road building - can compare with the damage wildfires are inflicting on fish and fish habitat." .

No relation to Ted.

I heard the air tankers going over Eureka around 7 PM last evening. Radio news this morning says the fires are under control. I didn't catch where the fire was. Most of these fires happen a few miles east of Eureka in the warmer zones.

Here's an idea. Everyone take hold of the nearest enviroMENTAL-whacko by the ankles and beat the fires out!(sarcasm off)

How much you wanna bet our northwest politicians and "opinion leaders" (read: leftist druids) will blame the fires on global warming, corporate greeds (gotta get it in at every turn), and the internal combustion engine, not on their own personal stupidity?

Well if they all burn down this year they will not burn down next year or the next or the next.....

They used to burn down before we all got here, why should we stop it now ?

I know it is a loss but it will actually save a ton-o-cash in the long run...

I've got kind of a morbid thought. Not that it is a monumental disruption to our society but what if some Al Queda members are setting some of these fires. A forest fire is very easily set and hard to detect the culprit.
