[history]
Julia Butterfly Hill, California's well-known tree sitter and environmental activist, has been jailed in Ecuador for protesting a proposed oil pipeline that would penetrate a virgin Andean "cloud forest" that teems with rare birds.
Hill, 28, was arrested Tuesday with seven other demonstrators in Quito outside the offices of Occidental Petroleum, a U.S. oil company.

Occidental and its founder Armand Hammer and the racist Gores go way back.
This is a kick!
Butterfly, meet Occidental, Goron's favorite big oil company!
To: sasquatch
I saw Armand Hammer's crypt the other day in Beverly Hills. Big, impressive, for the founder of Occidental, but none-the-less he is dead. He couldn't take it with him. I don't mind his wealth at all. I just don't like how he put the Gore's into prominent politics. And Al sure does like to bite the hand that fed him! Where would he have been without all that OIL MONEY?
As for the tree sitter, cut it down while she is up in the top of the tree.

Was there some insider trading going on? I remember Rush saying something about this. Please refresh my memory.

US Liberal Ecofreaks are not used to South American justice. No Harvard Communist lawyers representing them pro bono. No endless free TV coverage by a fawning press. No Bill of Rights or US Constitution. Just harsh non-US justice.
Enjoy, Butterfly.

There's probably not a lot of environmentalists in Equador to haul her waste for her like there was during the tree sit.
She will have to do a lot of praying to Mother Earth.

I thought she fell out of a tree and died?

This is not funny! I see a much larger pattern, a conspiracy, in fact. You got this honey in prison in Ecuador and Lori Berenson in prison in Peru! This means that female American terrorists of every stripe are positioning themselves in South American prisons, WEST COAST SOUTH AMERICA, and for what treachery, I wonder. The NYT would hang a headline on a Republican for a lot less concrete factual information! If Jane should go to Chile in the very near future, I'm calling the authorities before this really gets out of hand!!

The little gringos have been arrested, including the old cockatoo who climbs trees,"
Old Cockatoo? LOL!
To: sasquatch
Julie, I'd like you to meet Lori Berenson. Lori, Julia. All right thinking people will applaud Gustavo Noboa for his observations and bird-oriented wit.
Notice how the Accion Ecologia is run by a gringa, too? God forbid that the poor Ecuadorians should benefit from any of their own natural resources.

"The little gringos have been arrested, including the old cockatoo who climbs trees," Ecuadoran President Gustavo Noboa said of Hill Bwahahahaha! Is this for real?! I hope they throw away the key, instead of deporting her.

There's a little gal in very cold jail in Peru (where they are having record cold temps at the moment---guess the southern hemisphere doesn't get global warming...?)
Anyway, I'm sure that cell would hold one more.

I think she is carrying this butterfly motif way too far. What's on her tattoo?

"That pipeline has ruptured numerous times, spewing about 150,000 barrels of crude petroleum into adjacent jungle watersheds."I have to admit, until they get their act together, jeopardizing the tourism money that they are getting isn't smart.
