Family is disgusted.

July 16, 2002 -- ALEXANDRIA, Va. - The father of slain CIA Agent Johnny "Mike" Spann reacted angrily yesterday to the plea deal for John Walker Lindh - and charged that it's a blow to everyone who died on Sept. 11.

Lindh claims he was shot in the leg and lying in the prison yard during the revolt and doesn't know who killed Spann.

The Spann interview is the only 5 minutes I have seen of the new Connie Chung show (Connie looked like one of those cheap, painted dolls) and I was glad they got to speak their mind. Just to let them know, the majority of the country feels the same way.

Did you see Shannon (Mrs. Mike) Spann on Fox last night and this morning?

First of all, she is sharp as hell; how do we get her into politics? (She had a career in the CIA; she apparently gave it up to become a (devoted) mom.)

Second, while talking with Sean Hannity, she stated that she is a conservative, she referred to the herself and Sean as being the same in that way.

Third, she stated her husband's Christian faith openly, as well as their patriotism. (Their child asked Mike, why do you have to go to Afghanistan, can't dads without children go? And Mike answered, what if ALL dads refused to go? Shannon went on to say that Mike believed defending his country wherever required was as important as, or no different from, his responsibility to his family to clothe, feed and care for them.)

Yesterday I felt that the plea was OK.

But if Lindh could have tipped off any of the Americans, Spann included, about the incipient uprising, then he should certainly be put to death.

I was wrong yesterday, but, as a reader/spectator who does not have all the documentation, I went on what I knew.

We should all be as outraged as the Spanns. One doesn't bargain with terrorists. Why is treason no longer an acceptable charge anymore? What are we afraid of? Vermin Lindh should have been executed.

I've met, Mrs. Spann once while paying my respects at Agent Mike Spann's at the Arlington Cemetary. I left an American/ Marine Corps flag right next to his tombstone. His tomb, is located in Section 34/ Headstone marker # 2359

Should have been tried by a MILITARY TRIBUNAL. GW is blowing it when it comes to Massouui (sic), Padilla and this clown. I have the upmost respect for GW and the AG but they are mishandling those three cases, as the VP would say, BIG TIME!!

I agree gg188. She is impressive as all get out. Very determined, sharp, and obviously thinks before she opens her mouth. I don't want to "draft her for something" though -- she has (apparently) chosen full-time motherhood over what had to be a promising career and my hat is off to her. Let's hope she stays involved in her own way, and think about drafting her after her kids are grown.
