Was Jesus 'gay'?

One of the fastest growing churches among homosexuals in America and around the world is the Metropolitan Community Church – a "Christian" church specifically for "gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgendered communities." The MCC was originally started by openly homosexual ex-Baptist minister, Troy Perry, who after the discovery and disclosure of his homosexuality, losing his license as a minister, a divorce and estrangement from his wife and children, as well as a failed suicide attempt, "rediscovered" his rainbow-colored vocation and ministry.

From his Los Angeles living room in 1968, Perry and his initial 12 members began their "gay church." According to their website, in 2003, the MCC will embody over 77,000 members, spanning more than 17 countries around the globe. Tens of thousands of so-called faithful "Christian" homosexual men and women flock weekly to MCC-affiliated churches worldwide to be "reaffirmed" with the message that God loves them and "gay is OK."

The Rev. Troy Perry, highly regarded in gay circles, has been an invited guest to the White House on four separate occasions from 1977 to 1997 – three alone by former President Bill Clinton. In 1997, Clinton "celebrated" Perry as an "honoree" at a White House breakfast recognizing 100 national "spiritual leaders" in America.

I don't know where this new "open and affirming" world would be today without this modern-day homosexual prophet and "gay"-savvy biblical interpreter. According to Perry and the MCC's official website, for over 2,000 years, Christians including myself, have been interpreting the Bible wrong. Maybe you have, too. Did you know:

In the immoral days in which we live, homosexual men and women are grasping for every possible straw to get acceptance for their destructive, aberrant lifestyle. The secret gay agenda has infiltrated the media, Hollywood, the public schools, the government and, yes, now even religion. How sad to say homosexuals have gone as far as to try and hijack and pervert biblical Christianity and the Gospel of Jesus Christ – all in the name of "gay sex." And America, we've let it happen.

As a man who once lived as a homosexual, my heart continually breaks for those lost in the web of the "gay" deception – a life of sadness, loneliness, pain and even death. Yet a godly anger within me burns even more for those who have the gall and nerve to try and make my Lord and Saviour, the One who rescued me from the tentacles and grips of the homosexual lifestyle, into the "God of Gay."

It may be a "rainbow day" for these misguided men and women now ... in biblical terms, "the pleasures of sin for a season." I highly doubt that it will be as colorful a day when they hear the words from the God whom they thought was so "open and affirming": "Get away from, ye that work iniquity ... I never knew you."

May they be miraculously reached with the truth in love, before it's too late.

Frankly, I've always seen homosexuality as a dead end by any measure.

Say you are of a judeo-christian persuasion. Both Judaism and Christianity preach against sex outside of marriage in general, and reserve a passage or two for homosexuality in particular.

So you're toast there.

Alright, then, say your a secular-type. Again, homosexuality seems problematic. By any secular standard, an animal's primary duties are to a) survive, and b) breed. Homosexuality is not likely to accomplish B, and with the new and interesting varieties of STD floating about, incluiding AIDS, seems increasingly hostile to A.

So you're toast again.

So please forgive the lack of depth to my argument, but it seems to me that the condition of being attracted to the same sex is either a moral or evolutionary dead end.

And as to Jesus being gay? A lot of times he wasn't even all that cheerful...

I disagree, mille99. Jesus has changed the lives of many homosexuals. Homosexuality is a SIN and Jesus died for that sin as well as for all the others. A sinful person can be redeemed and set free from any number of things. I rejoice in how He has set people free from demonic plagues like homosexuality. That's what he does best!

They left Old Noah out on purpose. Remember, he took male and female on board to repopulate. Couldn't have done that with gay animals. brother parsy.

I'm sure if he was married, the Bible would have included that. Remember, he had a higher calling on his life and stayed pure as an example to the rest of us.

And we wonder why the USA/West is going down the tubes.

The West will one day be ruled by Islam, at the rate we're going.

The majority of our founding fathers were deists who believed that

That's why 52 of the 55 members of the Constitutional convention were active memebers of a CHIRSTIAN church.

Yep them deists .....

I was wondering about that, too.

Perhaps Joe Farah/WND had this piece of Scripture in mind: "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them". Ephesians 5:11. I am of the opinion that we could change a lot of hearts in this country if pastors would get to work exposing those who work in darkness. I'm not holding my breath.

Aftering seeing what the RC's have invented about Mary, nothing about this gay twist on scripture surprises me at all.

I'm not a regular participant on this sort of thread, but I know trolling when I see it.

Don't you think that's 'bad form'?

Historians call it "presentism," the tendency to uproot historical activities and cast them in a modern light, and judge them by modern standards. To state that Jesus was gay because he wore a purple robe is a particularly egregious example of that (not purple, thweetheart, lavender).

While I respect His prescience, I think I can state with fair confidence that Jesus made no pronouncements regarding video games, double-entry accounting, or the efficacy of the 55-mph speed limit. A "presentist" might conclude from the fact that He didn't have a driver's license that He was a scofflaw in the latter regard - this stuff gets silly pretty quickly.

You can, of course, err in the opposite direction, ignoring the fact that religions are largely about guiding one's moral decisions by applying broad principles laid down by their founders. For example, "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's ox" probably applies to more than livestock. But deriving moral lessons in a current venue from principles laid down in the past is a thing considerably different from judging past activities by present standards. I think this is the source of the author's confusion.

No, I think there is a marked similarity. It was the first thought I had. I've spend hours and hours debating RC's about Marianism so the topic comes to mind often. The idea of twisting scripture to ones own agenda is as old as scripture itself. Whether your agenda is twisted sexuality or goddess worship, it's the same thing. But I'll drop it because I have no intention of turning this into anothe P vs RC thread.

It would have been more remarkable in that society if He weren't married, and that would have been noted.

I cannot write the word I want to say.

There will be those who would lead us astray. We were warned by Jesus Christ, himself.

Why do those folks bother arguing with Christians about the teachings of Jesus? It is obvious they do not agree with Biblical teachings and want to twist Jesus's words and actions to suit THEIR desires. Why not just dump the whole idea of being Christain, quit the pretense of trying to fit into the religion, and start their own religion in which they WILL feel comfortable?

In the parable of the woman who has lost a coin (Luke 15), she had ten and lost one. Are gays and lesbians a lost coin joyfully rediscovered in our day? Gays and lesbians are now estimated to be ten percent of the population.

Are they a tithe of humanity? Are they the leaven in the loaf of every culture?

Oh. My. God.

BWAHAHA. Talk about FReepin' delusional...
