Good Morning,
Republicans fired back this past Friday against Democrats over corporate wrongdoing, blaming them for opposing legislation to protect investors and accusing the Clinton administration of fostering a climate of deception in the 1990s.
Sen. Phil Gramm, Texas Republican, said the climate of wrongdoing began with the 1993 Clinton tax increase, which "gratuitously" limited the tax deductibility of corporate executives' salaries to $1 million and encouraged "massive use of stock options and loans."
"Now when people stand up screaming that stock options created this incentive to drive up stock prices, well, where did it come from?" Mr. Gramm said. "It came from the 1993 tax act, and not one Republican voted for it, I'm proud to say."

No, but I bet they relatiate and send out that paragon of power and guts, Trent Lott to a press conference to denounce the DemocRATS!
That will REALLY show those Senate DemocRATS who is serious!
< /sarcasm >
I share everyones frustration towards Senate DemocrRATS. However, current and historical facts prevent me from being fired up about a pending "firing back" strategy by the inept, docile, and limp-wristed Senate Republicans.
Those who put their faith in this current crop of Senate Republicans are only setting themselves up for much disappointment.
This is disappointing. This is supposedly the easiest Senate seat for the GOP to take and they are just neck-and-neck when it should be a blowout. Unless they start fighting down and dirty like the RATS already are doing I just don't see them retaking the Senate, in fact they will lose seats. They better get started turning this around.
Can you spell H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-S-Y boys and girls? :-)
"In the first Democratic poll released in this race, Sen. Tim Johnson (D) held a statistically insignificant lead over Rep. John Thune (R) in a survey done for Johnsons campaign."
A Thune win in South Dakota would be a shot accross the bow against D'asshole, who will eventually lose his seat to that ex-SD Republican Guv'nah who wouldn't run this year so he could spend more time with his family.
C'mon John Thune!!

Got a link to a thread? Whatever the good news is, we need to remember that we've still got nearly four months to go.
Afterward, Talent said that "as you get closer to the election, you begin to refine differences. Youll hear me doing it more and more."
Good! And I hope that he doesn't forget to remind Missourians that Caranahan voted against approval of Ashcroft as AG.
Sure it's still good news. But Johnson is not an 'entrenched' incumbent, he is a freshman who has voted against Bush (SD choice for Prez) almost 100%. If we can't get a great showing going against the likes of him, how can we ever expect to unseat people like Landrieu, Baucus, Cleland, and even Carnahan who are the best hopes for a takeover?
There is plenty of time but it goes fast and the GOP is currently on the defensive as usual. Being on the defensive is not a winning strategy.
How so? They have favorable generic polling numbers, the Dem Senate incumbents are more at risk, and the Pubbies have more money. Defensive??
