Fox News Channel a few minute ago had an interview with Lee Greenwood regarding the Pledge of Allegiance controversial rulling of the 9th Circuit court. Lee said he had just finished writing a song, and offered to sing it. It was of course the Pledge of Allegiance. A beautifull song, that only Lee can sing. It made a few tears in my eyes, and I don't cry easily.

Ok... time for me to get flamed. Lee Greenwood has exactly one noticable hit in the last oh... say his career. It was a great song mind you, I know it by heart... but don't you think he is jumping the bandwagon, oh say by alot?
He writes this song, and is trying to peddle it all within 24 hours after a lower circuit court ruling that is about to be overturned soon anyways?
I won't buy it, but I may listen if I catch Lee's show in Branson.

Greenwood reminds me of the kind of guy, who if you are at a bar with your sweetie and you get up to go to the bathroom, comes over to your table and tries to smooth talk your gal. Then when you get back, he stands up and introduces himself like he ain't been up to "no-good" after all. His type deserves the beer bottle over the head treatment. IMHO. parsy the good old boy.

You can't blame Lee for trying to make some money while the making is good, as long as he does it the honest way.

I don't know Mr. Greenwood's character from Adam, so I can't vouch for him, but I enjoy his songs.

I agree, these liberal vampires fears God as much as the sunlight of truth.I'm seeing the same effect when the folks over at LF get dragged ever-closer to that 'sunlight of truth' ...

"I am converting to country western radio...they are beginning to make the most sense of anyone doing commentary."
From Loretta Lynn & Patsy Cline, Trisha Yearwood and Mary Chapin Carpenter, Reba and Dolly. All hail Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks.Hank Jr and Willie Nelson. The male musicians are incredible!(I just cant sing their songs well)I know the songs better than I know the artists names for the most part. But "Country Music" has always been about life in the USA.
Glad to see more people take a walk on the "alternative" music side, where the "silent" majority dwell... ;^)

OK, it may not be a new song...
But it got a good jumpstart tonight...it was the lead-in bumper music on
The Al Rantel Show on KABC 790AM radio in Los Angeles (this is the Disney franchise
station; Mr. Rantel is gay, Italian-American,Oklahoma State Univ. graduate, and Republican).
Only in America...ain't no other place like it...

Well, one thing is for sure.
It doesn't matter where I go to an air show (well, the ones with military craft),
"God Bless The U.S.A." gets played.
If I didn't hear it, I'd wonder if something was wrong.

LOL!
As I'm listening to Rantel, I say to myself "why do I bother pinging Doug from Upland...
of course he'll be on with Rantel before I hit the post button!"
Cheers!

Yep, Monya put me on first. She is a great call screener. After 9-11, I drove to the KABC studios to deliver them copies of THE BALLAD OF MIKE MORAN. They would not let me in or accept the CDs. I guess I could have been a terrorist trying to infect them with anthrax. Anyway, I managed to get through to a producer/screener who vouched for me and got me in. Thanks, Monya. Larry Elder and Doug McIntyre played the song that day and night.

I thought that the star spangled banner was written as a poem, and put to music quite a while later. It was set to music a few days later by adopting the tune to "Anacronon in Heaven" a popular drinking song of the day. That was very common in the early 1800s. The Library of Congress even has a whole section devoted to songsheets from that era. It is accessible digitally by going to http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/amsshtml/amsshome.html -- The America Singing collection.
Kinda cool. One thing you will notice looking at the facimile sheets is that they often call out a tune that the song is to be sung to -- The Greenwich Pensioner, Heart of Oak, etc.

Personal opinion only - bit of a problem when people turn out flag into shirts, hats, scarves, etc., etc.....I just don't like it.
To: ErnBatavia
I too am sensitive to that. But if you think about it, bunting is essentially the same thing. If the clothing looks like a flag could have been used to make it, I don't like it. If it simply incorporates flag-like designs, I'm not as inclined to object. I believe this was a leather looking affair. I don't have a problem with that, because it shows their love of our flag. Anyone who loves our flag and is proud enough to show it is okay by me.
Thanks for the comments. You take care. D1

It is said that Handel wrote "The Messiah" in only seven days (or some incredibly short span of time, maybe it was three days).
But I know what you mean.
To: Huck
Well, you are very blessed to have that musical talent. I always wanted to be able to play the piano. After I grew up I bought a piano and took lessons - but nothing worthwhile came from it. I was always amazed at the people that could just hear a melody and sit down and play it. That is natural talent.
Maybe you have heard of the 6 year old that plays classical music by ear. Has been playing since he was 3.

"I agree, these liberal vampires fears God as much as the sunlight of truth."You just creeped me out!
I was just channel surfing and passed by a show on the Discovery Channel about macabre beliefs and started to think how extreme leftists are like vampires:
-They hate anything religious
-They lack any sign of a conscience
-Suck the life out of everything around them
-Exist on the belief that we are here to cater to them
-Feel there should be no consequences from their actions
-Believe they will live forever

"Oh my. I hate Lee Greenwood- his song God Bless the USA is fine- but anyone that can write a song in 24 hours---hmmm I doubt how good it is."
I saw Lee Greenwood in person and he is so much more than a one hit wonder. He did ragtime, rock & roll, blues, jazz, you name it, he did it. He was fabulous!
To: Miss Marple
Not a new song, lawgirl. He wrote the MUSIC to the Pledge back in the 90's. It is pretty good.I'll 'second' you on that...I have the cassette.
