[history]
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals overturned a 1954 act of Congress inserting the phrase "under God" after the words "one nation" in the pledge. The court said the phrase violates the so-called Establishment Clause in the Constitution that requires a separation of church and state.

This is a sad, sad day for our country.
The pledge is declared unconsitutional, yet homesexuality and other perversions, actions and "lifestyles" are acceptable, 'allowing' children to learn to embrace diversity and accept differences...
Thank the Lord for private schools.

Why does congress open it's session with a prayer...why is the bible is used in courts of law and our currency makes references to god?
This hypocracy must cease!!
At this rate, soon a guy won't be able to grow pot in his own home!

Are these the same California schools that are teaching little Johnny & Susie to go on their own jihad? It's the same old thing--the only religious expression liberals want to prevent is that of Christinity, while every other religion must be catered to in the name of diversity. Saying "under God" is not an establishmnet of religion; it just recognizes the Judeo-Christian heritage of our country and of Western Civilization. These are the same idiots who said Rastafarians could smoke reefer!!!

Listening to RUSH while driving to lunch, when he announced this. He played an old Red Skelton recording, concerning the pledge with the prophetic last line, they added two states and two words: "under God" (since he was a kid) and wouldn't it be a shame if someone thought this a prayer and took it out of the public schools. Anyone have a link to Red Skelton's site on this?

Is there a legal way for the rest of the US to vote the Bay area OUT of the US?
To: zarf
AH yes the hypocrisy of the US gov't, has the 9th district taken the time to look at any piece of US currency? Do the printed words "IN GOD WE TRUST" need to be pointed out to them?

Why am I not surprised that such a decision would come out of SanFrancisco, a city named for "Saint Francis"? Is it time for California to secede from the union? They are no longer a part of this nation or it's beliefs.

Aye!
Ol' Billy was right, "let's kill all the lawyers, let's kill them tonight!"
The Constitution says freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion. Pinhead lefties.
