BRUSSELS, Belgium, Jun 26, 2002 (AP Online via COMTEX) -- A Belgian appeals court ruled Wednesday that Belgium cannot investigate war crimes charges against Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon related to a 1982 massacre in two Palestinian refugee camps.

The three-judge panel said a case could not proceed against a person who is not in Belgium.

"If a person is not found on the territory, we find it inadmissible," the court said in its 22-page ruling.

The remaining 21.5 pages were devoted to analysis by representitves of brutal 3rd world muslim and african regimes about the human rights abuses commited by Israel.

War Crimes Against Sharon Dismissed

Oh, charges dismissed. The headline could have been referring to the international media's reaction to the Palestinian homicide bombings.

What a cop out. Politics. This leaves it open to be used as a sledgehammer.

a case could not proceed against a person who is not in Belgium

Nothing is ever opened or closed ended when lawyers are involved; this indicates to me that should any person being party to a case on Belguim Soil can then have "proceedings" against them!

Yep...and now they are spending their free time trying to find a way to "trick" Sharon into taking a trip to Belgium.

I'd have to say that it looks like Sharon Stone was rather relieved the decision went in her favour:

Why would the world even think of bringing charges against the genocide bombers? After all, they're only murdering Jews. I suprised the world doesn't get together and award them a medal.

I don't believe the Belgium court ever considered those charges. At least not seriously.

I don't think Arafat is chuckling much these days. :)) I see you scoff at the American judicial system. Typical.
