I hope you're right. Neither side wants a provisional Palestinian state. The Arabs want a full state, Israel doesn't want one at all. Why screw both sides?

What should be said: "Mr. Prime Minister, feel free to end the terror."

I cannot wait to see the Bush-bashers who expect another sell-out end up disappointed again.

It's called "compromise". That's how things like this are resolved.

Any settlement will infuriate either the Hamas-types or the Kach-types. A good settlement will probably infuriate both.

Don't waste your breath expecting the President to pull a rabbit out of the hat here.

If someone were to break into your house and kill some people, would you give him your backyard?

The up-side to creating a Palestinian state now would be that they could all be moved into one centralized area. It would also create a focal point, a country instead of an ambiguous PA with no real boundaries. A sort of "aiming point", at which to concentrate. I believe, given the Palestinian prediliction toward anarchy any Palestinian state most probably could not survive without sucking money from other Arab nations, thereby linking them monetarily and politically with what would most likely be termed a terrorist nation from the very start.

SCOUTS OUT!

I just hope he hasn't been reading "A Sum of all Fears."

It's not their yard. If someone squatted in my yard I might not like them very much. I wouldn't expect the cops to have much respect for their perogatives.

Oh, the whole Palestinian state thing, I assume.

Quite frankly, I think Bush is going to have a proposal that will give the Israelis all the cover needed to deal with the Hamas bunch once and for all.

Plus, with a state, Israel could truly declare war on the Palestinian people if they continue attacks.
