McCain is as unseemly as Bill Clinton in his frantic search for a legacy. He is now a man without a moral compass, willing to sign on to any bill as long as it carries his name or imprimatur.

McCainiac wants to be the media darling but all he has proven time and again is that he is the media whore who will do ANYTHING to get his name in the news.

He's a democrat in a conservative state. Makes me wonder why they keep reelecting him.

The left will keep trying in increments to end private gun ownership, especially dear Hillary and her alter ego Schumer. Most probably the man who shot Mr. McCarthy did not buy his gun legally. The right just needs to keep blocking them.
To: Reaganwuzthebest
Why doesn't McCain use the same "brilliant" logic he did with the campaign finance reform law? Maybe pass a law that says you cannot shoot and kill anyone within the immediate 30 or 60 days prior to the day you might shoot and kill them?
Make sense? No? The it's just right for McCain, who has not made any sense to me ever. McCain seems like an angry guy that had a little too much tissue removed from his forehead in that last operation he had. A nutcase.

When is his term up?
He had better not even win the Repub primary.

WHAT LOOPHOLE??? Why, in ALL of the articles, news reports, etc. that have talked about this BS, the authors or broadcasters NEVER PURCHASED A GUN?? Wouldn't THAT be the icing on the cake? Isn't that what investigative reporters do? Gee, funny how NONE of them have EVER mentioned in their stories "it was so easier to use the loophole that I ourchased this gun". DO IT....CONVINCE ME!!! SHOW ME HOW EASY IT IS. Freak'n liars. Scare mongerers.

You have a really good point. You see all of the time on "investigative" programs the reporters take a camera somewhere and show the public "how easy" something is. They wont do it here. If they did, and you had a crew that knew the law but just wanted to be deceptive, they would just go to a show that allows private individuals to sell, buy a gun from him, and say "see, no paper work, no background check. Its that easy".
To: Puppage
WHAT LOOPHOLE??? Exactly! The GCA68, which required retail dealers to get licenses, was based on the "interstate commerce clause", and was a loophole in itself. "Instant check", which is not the same as a "background check", relies on that same loophole, since it applies only to FFL-licensed retail dealers. It too depends on the loophole of the interstate commerce clause.
But gun-grabbers pretend not to see that. To them, complete federal control of all firearms has always been there, so the non-background-check by non-retail-dealers is a mere "loophole" that should be easily closed. In reality, the gun laws themselves are loopholes within loopholes.

McCain has argued that his bill would be a major step toward ending the sale of weapons to terrorists, as well as ordinary criminals, through a loophole in federal law that permits sales at gun shows without a background check. Yet another lying sack of $hit reporter. It isn't a loophole, it's a legal exemption. Brady would have never passed in the first place if it required the checks at gun shows. They said "Don't worry, this is only for FFL sales, you can still transact your guns privately at shows" and this is the only reason the bill passed. Now, this legal exemption is called a "loophole" which has to be "closed" - next up are the classified ad "loophole" (already under attack by the antis), then the inheritance "lophole," and finally the private gun ownership "loophole," which "allows" people to own guns at all.

You see all of the time on "investigative" programs the reporters take a camera somewhere and show the public "how easy" something is. The program would be a non-starter. What most people would conclude is there's nothing wrong with a law-abiding individual citizen selling something he owns to another law-abiding citizen.
Dealers at shows have to complete the same process they do in a shop - FBI check and all. There is no story because a dealer isn't going to put himself in jeapordy by violating the rules. Most know there are ATF slugs at the show trying to entice dealers into under-the-table sales.

Outside urban areas, gun control is a kiss-of-death issue for Democrats," said Joseph DiSarro, political scientist at Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, Pa.
Here in Arizona its a Kiss of Death for McLame or anyone else.

Yep. I attended a show just last month. I purchased 3 747s, half a dozen box-cutters, two pounds of anthrax, and a crop-duster. I also bought an upgrade to my "Microsoft Flight Simulator Lite"; you know, the version which omits take-offs and landings.
What an embarassment McCain is!

McCain has a little problem with that thing called the Constitution. If it isn't the First Amendment he's trashing, it's the Second. I'm waiting for him to just try and throw the whole thing out.
He's a veteran who fought in Vietnam, but what did he fight for? It doesn't appear to be for freedom.

He's a democrat in a conservative state. Makes me wonder why they keep reelecting him. Unfortunately this state is not as conservative as it is portrayed. Many of us here wonder how he keeps getting reelected, the old "but he is a war hero" line is wearing thin. May be after his insane actions, and gun grab attempts the idiots will wake up.

He had better not even win the Repub primary. He is up for re-election in 2004.
In the past, Any Republican who would have a chance of being elected wouldn't run against mccain, if he runs again I don't expect Republicans to line up to run against him.

Yep. Those terrorist come over here to the US and go to our gun shows then board a plane back to their homeland and commit acts of terror. Give me a break. They can get a fully auto AK47 for $50 or so at home. They're going to come here so they can get a semi-auto for $500 or so? Not to mention there's probably more BATF and FBI at gun shows than there are actual buyers and sellers. What a nice place for would be terrorists to obtain their weapons. Right.
Good ole Manchurin Candidate McCain is still getting calls telling him to play a little solitare it seems....
