Over the next two decades, as many as 40 million young Chinese men won't be able to marry, settle down and start families. There won't be enough wives to go around.

Researchers say growing numbers of lonely men in migrant shantytowns and isolated farm villages will pose a threat to social order and could force the Chinese government to tighten its grip on society or even seek military conflicts abroad to keep the restless bachelors occupied.

There is real irony here. Girls have been aborted throughout China--one wonders if NOW is happy with that situation/tragedy. On the other hand, in a culture that for generations has seen girl babies as less valuable than boys, it is girls that will have immense power by virtue of whom they marry.

I wrote someone in the media (Georgie Ann Geyer) 10 YEARS ago about this Identical problem. Either China was going to be filled with homoexuals or Polygamists (on the women's side) or very mad unmarried, unwanted men.

Georgie Ann wrote back that Homosexual scenario would be IMPOSSIBLE because people are BORN that way! Hogwash.
