Its a good start. However, when they deport illegal Saudis, I'll know they're actually serious.

What does the Posse Comitatus Act have to do with using the military to protect our borders from the ongoing invasion of illegals from Mexico?

Our laws and rights define what is hostile.

Then grab your piece and defend them.

Go read it. I am sure there is a comic book version that even you could grasp.

I was FReemailing back and forth with one of the most level-headed FReepers with whom I've had the honor to disagree with on several issues over the years, about the fact that he is a proponent of anti-personel mines being used at the border as determent.

His whole idea was vbased on the fact that people would not be stupid enough to try and cross a mine field.

I suggested that desperate people will take desperate measures, and that while most of us would agree that crossing ninety miles of ocean, on anything from inner tubes to boards held together by ropes, to twelve-foot row boats loaded with fourteen people or more, with very little water and no navigational tools, is foolish, I knew of close to 100,000 testaments to what extreme measures desperate people are willing to risk, laying at the bottom of the ninety mile stretch of water separating Cuba and Key West.

Hey! Maybe Florida could use the US Armed Forces to protect our border from the invasion of New Yorkers and other sundry lefties that keep moving down here every year!

Change The Constitution, attack the source of the problem or get off the pot.
Vote/Donation pimping via bashing the EFFECT of the problem is tacky and cowardly.
Please define:

1. The Problem
2. The Cause
3. The Effect

Feel free to use generalizations for the sake of brevity. I just want the basic ideas.

People who claim that there is an invasion of the US by Mexicans, abetted by the Mexican government, and do not wish to use the military to invade the offending country puzzle me.

Is there an invasion, or not?

The fact these idiots cannot understand is that immigration enforcement is a civil function. It is NOT in the realm of the DOD. They want to REALLY trash the constitution by turning over police powers to the military. To do that then only one thing allows it. A declaration of martial law. Once done that does NOT limit martial law JUST to the borders. That means every man jack in this country is subject to that same martial law.

If you are sure you must be a regular reader of the comic book versions of U.S. Law. What's your favorite comic book Tex? "Mr. Shill's Most Excellent Adventures".

It's the Law that legally prevents us from using the military to enforce the borders. And imilitarized borders wouldn't be a good idea even without Posse Comitatus, for the reasons I posted earlier.

Illegals are a real problem. Using the military at the border isn't a real solution.

You don't have the backbone or intellectual ammunition for a war, boy. My concern is for the protection of the national security and stability of the United States, it's people, and it's future not the accomodation of illegal aliens for the political objectives of some self-centered, worthless political whore who cannot and will not do his job as either Chief Executive or Commander In Chief of the armed forces of the United States. Only a cretin or an inexperienced rube with no military training cannot grasp the vital need to secure the borders of the nation against invasion from wherever it comes and the threat and chaos it generates. Which one are you?

Another bar stool green beret. You would piss your pants if you actually were given the chance to back your talk up. Go play civil war. They shoot blanks.

1. The Problem---Poverty.
2. The Cause---Mexican government.
3. The Effect---People vote with their feet and go look elsewhere for a better life.
4. The Solution Pt. 1---Stop any foreign aid to Mexico, use money to fund and increase Border Patrol. Attack the current interpretation of the XIV Amendment and eliminate anchor babies. Prosecute US employers that knowingly hire illegals. Stop welfare for illegals, emergency medical service and bus ticket home. Shut down all Taco Bells, the Mexican phone company has no business having that many outlets in the US.

All fair points.

OTH, isn't understandable that folks are rather impatient waiting for the FedGov to step up to the plate and faithfully execute our laws with regard to Illegals? There's been a massive bipartisan failure on the matter of protecting the border. Civil enforcement is deliberately neglected or hamstrung.

So folks want something done. "Use the military." "Mine the borders." How much longer before they say, "We'll do it ourselves?"

Seems to me that the longer our politicians turn a blind eye to the lawlessness of Illegals, the more likely such developments will be. Then what?

Would the FedGov crack down on the vigilantes who only arose because of the malfeasance on Illegals? Go after citizens on behalf of Illegals?

Yeah, they'd have to... and then we'll have worse problems. We can't go the way of doing nothing. It isn't working now.

So the military is out, and doing nothing is out. I've suggested beefing up the Border Patrol with trained volunteers. Maybe there's a better idea, I'm all ears.

You don't have to respond. I can't stand the fact that we agree on something (militarizing the borders) so I'm taking some pills and going to bed.
