Good question. I am flying there early, but maybe D1 can put out a messsage to everyone in the LA chapter to see who is driving...I am sure there must be people who are driving.

You know how shy I am. You are overcoming this handicap nicely.
Did you see the definition of "props" above that dio posted? How have we gone all our lives and never seen this word? Free Republic enriches one's vocabulary!
To: Tom Pain
Casinos give "comps" (like free hotel rooms, free meals) to gamblers that gamble for certain amounts of $, .... and that roll of quarters I usually spend (and later wish I'd give to charity) has never impressed the powers that be at any casino I've ever been to.
Sorry you can't go, but thanks for the info.
To: firebrand
Are you going to be able to make it to Vegas? I didn't get to talk to you very much at our NYC lunch and I'd sure like to rectify that. ; - ))
To: doug from upland
Doug, you're going to the convention? All RIGHT!
To: MinuteGal; diotima
Do you know if any freepers are bringing their kids with them to the convention? Maybe I should ask this question of diotima?
To: WillaJohns
I'm funkeling here.... help me out someone.
To: WillaJohns
I plan to go but can't 100 percent commit yet. I may be going to NY on business at that time. We are negotiating with two major NY building owners to create security plans and protect their glass.
Who is driving from S. California???
To: WillaJohns
Maybe some freepers who have already registered can weigh in if they're bringing their kids to the conference. We can't tell at this point. Kids will find things to do in our Treasure Island hotel. There's a big pool plus an arcade for fun games. They can also watch the free Pirate Battle in front of the hotel as many times as they want and from different angles. It's very exciting!
Most LV hotels don't have in-house baby-sitting services, but they will reference a secure private company that will provide same if it's needed.
Is funkeling an Olympic sport, LOL?

Who is driving from S. California??? Badjoe and I are.
To: MinuteGal
Funkeling is posting three times or more, all in a row, on a thread. The phrase was first coined, not sure by whom, on a fundraising thread.
I should be embarrassed.
To: WillaJohns
Kids are certainly welcome to bring children, although we won't have FReeper sponsored kid activities (although I firmly believe we need to start them young!) The Treasure Island has pirates shows and arcades for kids, the Mirage, which is a tram ride away, has dolphins you can swim with and the white tigers you can see.
Also, across the street from the Treasure Island is The Fashion Show Mall, where I spent my formative years as teen, specifically in Saks and Neimans...easier to loose your money in that mall than at the tables. The NYNY hotel has a great roller coaster, the MGM has movie memorablila and a theme park. The Excalibur has medieval puppet shows and plays and a jousting match. So, if people want to bring their kids there is plenty for them to do. Click HERE to get more info about Kids in Vegas.

Kids are certainly welcome to bring children,

That's a great link. Thanks.
To: MinuteGal
Thanks for the info MinuteGal.
On another note, the last time I was in Las Vegas I went shopping at the second-hand stores. What a fabulous treasure trove I found. In one store there were literally thousands of very very expensive women's suits and coats (don't know about men's stuff, never made it to that acre of the store), and considering Vegas is hot for over half the year and no one in their right mind would wear a suit, I was pretty amazed at the quantity and variety--and the quality! I am planning another shopping trip this time.
There was also an excellent collection of books at the second hand stores. Do you think people go there, gamble away all their money, and then leave everything, or sell it, and hit the road for home?
To: diotima

To: WillaJohns
Bob and I getting there early, so if you and Joe get in early we can shop. And I know all the shopping secrets. I know the store you mentioned to Leni.
