Are you and Joe going to have a "FReepathon" table at the dinner? What a great idea! WIMom is coming too! Right, Mom?
To: WillaJohns
I am looking so forward to seeing you again!
To: Deep Freep
Are you going to the convention? Are you, uh, related to "Deep Throat?"
To: WillaJohns
I think he's related by marriage to Freep Throat.
To: MinuteGal
High Speed Internet Access is provided in a select number of guestrooms. I so want one of these rooms.
MinuteGal, do you offhand know what the average outside temperatures (day/night) are during the convention period?
To: LurkerNoMore!
You going! I'm smiling soooo big right now my teeth are sticking out. Yahoo!
To: LurkerNoMore!
I think he's related by marriage to Freep Throat. LOL!
To: Just another Joe
I think there are hundreds going. Everyone I talk to says they're going.

how many folks have registered to be there? I would like to know that as well. And, I am curious if there will be some sort of snail mail or email confirmation of registration for the conference. I've registered but have received none yet.

Bumpin' large.
To: WillaJohns
Las Vegas is located in the High Mojave Desert. The rainfall and humidity are minimal, producing a climate which people call "dry heat".
The city itself is a lush oasis of green grass, tropical flowers and palm trees.
Average temperatures in August may run as high as 103 degree. Evening temperatures drop remarkably to a comfortable average of 77 degrees. This is the time people stroll the Avenue of Lights to see the brilliant and scintillating displays for which the city is renowned. Or to have cool margaritas poolside and yak till the wee hours about politics and all the things freepers love to yak about!
Everything and every place is air-conditioned and you'll be very comfortable. In fact, many guests bring sweaters with them if they are sensitive to indoor A/C.
Where I live in Florida, we recently had a string of 98 degree-plus days. Like Las Vegas, it cools down at evening-time. No problemos. We just don't jog or tar our roofs during the day. Since most of the humungous varieties of fun and events are indoors during the day, there'll be no problems in Las Vegas, either!

To: MinuteGal
Thank you for your kind response. I was afraid it was going to be 130 degrees during the day and cool off to 98 at night. This is really great!
To: MinuteGal
Hope you don't mind if I'm treating you like a travel agent here, but you are so informed and I've got another question. How far away from Las Vegas is the Grand Canyon? I've always wanted to go there, can you imagine I've never been? Is it fairly close by? I'm thinking maybe I can incorporate a visit there on the trip to Vegas.
To: strela
Did you check your e-mail? Shortly after you registered you should have gotten a confirmation e-mail. We will begin sending out regular e-mail updates, complete with speaker information and information about attractions.
Let me know if you didn't get an e-mail and I will check manually if we got your registration.

diotima, how many folks have registered to be there? Not enough! I will have a better idea about numbers by the end of this week, someone is entering registration into a database for us and we are getting registrations by several means, so I don't have a number as of right now. Probably by next week I can give something more concrete.
Did you reserve a smoking room? I know we did!

Willa, The Grand Canyon is a very popular side trip from Vegas. We've visited "The Big Hole" many times and always manage to run into folks who are there from Vegas. Everyone should see The Grand Canyon - it is truly a spiritual experience!
There are companies right on The Strip in Vegas that offer tours of the Canyon. Here's some links for more info...

Cheers,

No trouble at all, Willa. FRiva Diva aims to please!
I don't know the mileage from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon, but there's a dandy one-day-tour right from our Treasure Island Hotel to this spectacular wonder of the western world. It's so convenient and the price is right!
For full particulars, type in keywords "11 days left" in the "find in forum" search feature on the post titles page. Look for my reply #9 which will surely whet your appetite!
