It was a wonderful way to spend a cool evening by the bluffs of the San Joaquin river. A local organization, The Middleeast Connection, held a rally in Woodward Park in Fresno, CA last night to show the community that what Israel fights against is the same extremism that our country is now facing. We were treated to a wide range of experts in middle eastern affairs and political and commentators who spoke about our common goals, enemies, culture and faith in God.
List of speakers:
Dr Bruce Thornton, California State University Fresno
Bill Manders, Author and Broadcaster KMJ Radio
Gen Shimon Erem IDF (ret)

>He who blesses Israel will be blessed, he who curses Israel will be cursed! - Genesis 12:3.
What version of the Bible are you quoting? Certainly nothing mainstream! If you are playing fast and loose with the words of The Bible you should find this interesting:
Revelation: 22:18-19 For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book:
If anyone adds to these things,
God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and
if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
Now, to the point at hand:
Genesis 12 was addressed to Abram (later Abraham), but Abraham was neither an Israelite nor a Jew:
Genesis 12:2-3 "I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you."

What Bible are YOU reading?!
Genesis 12:3
I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you."
Numbers 22:12
But God said to Balaam, "Do not go with them. You must not put a curse on those people, because they are blessed."

This is how you quoted The Bible in #40. What Bible did this come from?
He who blesses Israel will be blessed, he who curses Israel will be cursed! - Genesis 12:3
This is what the Bible really says, speaking to Abram:
Genesis 12:3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you."

I wasn't "quoting" it, but interpreting it.
To: LostTribe
btw, if He speaks to Abraham, He speaks to the father of Israel, and hence Israel.

Somehow I didn't know about this! Wish I had, would have loved to see Hanson, he is fantastic!

You are entitled to your own opinions and interpretations, but you are not entitled to misrepresent your source, in this case The Bible. That is academic fraud and sufficient to get you thrown out of any decent University in the world. There are no excuses for the dishonesty of fraud, including zeal.
To: B.R. Burton
I wasn't "quoting" it, but interpreting it. There seems to be a level of confusion here. God said that those who blessed/cursed those whom he made covenant with would be blessed/cursed, which is Abraham and his grandson Jacob (called Israel) and the tribes that came from Jacob, called Israel. So, in a way, "Israel" could be plugged in, albeit all the tribes of Israel, not having to do with the name given the little country in the Lands of Sands.

You are too quick to call names.

Thanks William! I appreciate your comments.

There are no excuses for the dishonesty of fraud, including zeal. You cannot learn that too early in life, especially if you expect to be taken seriously.

I don't know what your problem is at all. The interpretation is VALID, Israel is the APPLE OF GOD'S EYE. I wasn't trying to quote anything word for word, and I know that Genesis 12:3 is speaking to Abraham, but by default, it applies to Israel.
To: B.R. Burton
The interpretation is VALID.....I wasn't trying to quote anything word for word, Mr. Burton, you are kidding yourself and fooling no one. It is clear to anyone who looks that you tried to pass off your own interpretation of Genesis as the actual Biblical citation. The more you explain the more you sound like Judas trying to explain and justify his actions after the fact. It doesn't work.
When you are someday reduced to asking for the definition of "IS" you may understand that you have hit bottom. I hope you understand the elements of basic honesty before then. But until then, I wouldn't trust you alone in my candy store.
To: B.R. Burton
When you say "Israel" it's not clear whether you mean the little country in the middle east or the House of Israel, holding most of the twelve tribes (in contrast to the House of Judah, holding one, maybe two, tribes plus parts occupying the little country at present).

Whatever. I simply stated the point, and cited the scripture to BACK it. Not quote it.

Man, I love how fellow Christians treat each other. Y'all are acting as if I'm an anti-Christian socialist. Phew! You are sickening. You need to be MORE CAREFUL before you start ACCUSING others of stuff. And what defamatory rhetoric you are using regarding the candy store issue. What tripe. Apparaently, you forgot to READ THE TERMS OF USE, NO PERSONAL ATTACKS. I can't believe I'm listening to this. Especially when you know NOTHING of me. Phew.
To: William Terrell
I mean the Nation of Israel, God's people, the Jews, the Apple of His eye.
To: PaulKersey
This post is so offensive it is maddening. Apparently, you need to read the Bible on how to confront your brother if he is suspected of doing wrong. I tried to explain my position, but you just moved in to accuse. So, until you can stop your accusations, stay away from me.
To: B.R. Burton
I wrote, "You are sickening" - I apologize. That was wrong. It would have been better to say, "this accusation is sickening." It is infuriating when people say false things about you.
To: B.R. Burton
I mean the Nation of Israel, God's people, the Jews, the Apple of His eye. So you mean the little country in the mid east. For being the Apple of His Eye, the Jews sure seem to be plagued. According to scripture, Israel (12 tribes, including Judah) is the Apple of God's Eye, not the Jews. The current country of Israel is just a name given to the land they took from the Arabs in war. Israel itself is the House descended from Abraham, of which Jews (or Judah) are a small part.
Do you have some kind of perception problem caused by inaccurate data?
