I mean, anyone who wouldn't do ANYTHING to save "just one child" must be a monster, right?

Except when that ANYTHING not only does not save the child it pretends to save, it kills more of them.

Gun control does just that.

Is anyone paying attention?

But I guess that's my point.

Then the nation will be made up of only two kinds of people: weasels and slaves.

Which kind will you be?

For rhetorical completeness, shouldn't you have a third option - "dead"?

You make a lot of good points. The truth is that this is just one issue in which it becomes obvious that our Republic cannot stand because of the ignorance of its citizens. The founders where well aware that this could happen, and they gave plenty of warnings. Well FR used to be full of people who were wise to the liberal globalist games. Not to many people here today that I can say that about however. Even the big leader puts all his trust in a party. The way I see it is that the world is being set up for the anti-christ. This is why so many don't see it. The bible told us that most would not see it. Thankfully there is savior that will come and save the whole world from ruin. Before then there will be hell on earth.

So when they come for my guns would you recomend I use my 454 or my 357 or my 10 gauge or my 30-30...Let them try. I guess my statement makes their arguement. Too bad. I really think that the whole gun control movement is an attempt by the left to disarm the public to let the eventual red tide move in untouched. That has always been my gut feeling. How better to control and dominate a people when you have all the guns and the public does not. Just think of how hard the revolution would have been if the Brits would have outlawed firearms. It is hard to overthrow the tyrant with a bag of stones. The left is learning from the mistakes of history.

You might also add that they control the public schools, and therefore control the terms of the discussion, and if all else fails they merely have to outlive those who believe in the private ownership of arms. Demography is destiny. In time, this issue will be settled by people who, as children, weren't even taught which side the Japanese were on in World War II.

You should not through out the doom and gloom no matter how true without offering some proposals for correction or steps to take for action.

Your post is good and the words are true, but the other side of why the gim control nazi's get away with it is because those who belive in the 2nd amendment don't take enough action. So any ideas?

That is the purpose of the NEA.

"The people who run the political machine known as the “Gun Control Movement”"

Bull. There is no "gun control movement. Just a tiny lobby lacking any grassroots.

That was evident when the very-antigun Washington ComPost attributed the defeat of HCI etc. in the last House gun vote to the fact that we - but not the antigun lobby - are the only side that actually has a "grassroots" everywhere in the U.S. to pester congresscritters before key votes. That was evident when Bill Klinton publicly admitted the gun issue defeated Algore - costing him 5-10 states. That is evident when the Violence Policy Center doesn't even claim to have members.

And it is evident from the failure of the first "Million" Mom March - on a Sunday - to get more than 10,000 to show in the huge Washington metro area, most all admittedly coming from just one state (Pennsylvania), despite being within a two-hour drive of many big metro areas. And it was even more evident in the financial collapse of MMM within a year - as there just weren't enough participants to fund it NRA-style out of dues.

Even the rich commies who funded the antigun lobby in its big days of the late 1990s have given up on it. MMM - funded nearly entirely by George Soros - did so poorly he wouldn't keep funding it, and MMM had to downsize all but one of its 35 staffers. A petition drive to repeal shall-issue CCW funding in Michigan lost all funding from commie foundations - when the commie foundations openly said that they saw no hope of winning the referendum.

Scandals of antigun activists - with truth of "Million" Mom March, including exclusive photos!

"For rhetorical completeness, shouldn't you have a third option - "dead"?

DEAD!!!!! Ohmegod, did they miss that one? Not really, though. The unspoken ultimate consequence of gun control is inherent. 'Give 'em up or die.'

Control means control by force. Dat ain't nice. Nobody forced me to buy a gun. Why should I be forced to give it up? Dat ain't logical.

The 'even playing field' they mention is really a mud slide, and you know who they want at the bottom.

If you need someone's permission to breathe air, then you need someone's permission to continue to breathe air. Of course, the reverse is true also. If you don't need anyone's permission to live, then you don't need anyone's permission to continue to live. Gun-grabbers are the enemies of the human race.

It's like, "Okay, everyone. Turn in your spears. You won't need 'em because we'll protect ya's.....and Oh! Don't go into the jungle anymore. It's a jungle out there, ya know. If the tiger comes to your door, just remember, tigers have to eat too! -- SPCTRM (Society for the Preservation of Crooks, Thieves, Rapists, and Murderers.).

(Mebbe I should'a included socialists and liberals.)

"Gun Control people are good salesmen and debaters."

Actually they're mediocre salesmen and lousy, inept debaters. Resorting to high-pitched appeals to sheer emotionalism, furnishing nothing more than bromides and invectives, and continually misstating known statistics while dismissing- or ignoring- all factual evidence to the contrary, they wind up losing almost every time they debate a well versed pro-2A supporter, reduced to their ultimate fallback position: the utterly predictable cries of "if just one life can be saved" and "better safe than sorry."

Pfft!!

"Gun Control" is weaker than it has been for 30 years right now.

"The variable they seek to manipulate is firearms, eliminating them altogether from American society."

This too is wrong. They don't want to eliminate guns completely, they want the police and military to have guns. The don't want individual citizens to have guns. They also see nothing wrong in hiring armed guards to protect themselves, their offices and their factories. We can't be allowed to protect ourselves though.

When the people are all disarmed, then all of a sudden they will only want the military to have guns.

You make some good points. I hope you are wrong about most of them, although it's a fact that we already have much gun control, but guns haven't been totally banned yet.

That said, it's important to realize and celebrate our victories.

Thirty-three States now have "shall issue" CCW permits, and nine states are "may issue", only eight States do not allow their citizens to carry a concealed weapon at all. This is a huge (almost) nationwide victory.

The anti-civil rights gun banners try to blow smoke and say that more gun control is very popular, but the hard facts are that the Democratic machine has veered suddenly, and now decided they really like guns. There is no room for BS here; they have the very best pollsters and analysts available, if they now suddenly like guns, there are hard political facts behind this new position.

Just this week I read that NY Senator, Chuck Schumer, a rabid gun banner, now says he has always believed the Second Amendment acknowledges an individuals right to keep and bear arms.

The “standard model” among legal scholars is that the Second Amendment acknowledges individual rights.

We are winning in the courts too. With rare exception, the cities lawsuits against gun makers are being thrown out of court or defeated, or like Boston, they recently just gave up their lawsuit. Those that aren’t are being fought mightily. The Emerson decision is the most and best-researched and pro-gun judicial opinion yet. I don’t think the Rehnquist Supreme Court will damage this decision, and it may well strengthen the Emerson interpretation of Second Amendment.

Just last week John Ashcroft filed with the United States Supreme Court that the official position of the United States is that the Second Amendment acknowledges individual personal rights.

We must keep up the good fight, the gun grabbers will do everything in their power to take away our rights and freedoms.

The NRA has a “Drive to five” million members program going. If you are not a member of the NRA, join. If you are a member, sign up your spouse or kids, or your neighbor.

Despite their “millions” claims, the anti-gun groups have very few real members. When the NRA steps up and tells politicians that they are the oldest and largest civil rights organization in the country (world?) with five million dues paying members, and these five million members will pay close attention to their recommendations at the next election, it gets the politicians attention.

Have fun, shoot straight and safe.

You are right that they may win... but we often help them along their way. We help them when we act like gun nuts.

Before you all get upset, I am a gun nut. But I also have liberal friends, from backgrounds not familiar with guns. The key is "not familiar". Most people who support gun control do so because guns are unfamiliar and scary. They fear guns. If fear is their first response then gun control is the natural reaction. They are really very easy to bring around IF you take the time to explain your points calmly and with respect for their initial discomfort. Very few of the gun-control voting populace have a real set opinion on it that is any further developed than their first knee-jerk reaction.

We hurt our cause by calling them names like ignorant, sheeple, control freaks, gun grabbers. And much as we like it "from my cold, dead hands" really freaks them out.

Here is how to win... I have done it more times than I can count, because I happen to have made many liberal friends, and have taken the time to reason with them. I am proud to say I have won many votes to our side.

1. Stop calling them names.
2. Reason with them using rational language about self-defense... (especially with women)
3. Take them shooting. Stress safety, and make it fun... bring lots of bullets and let them shoot all afternoon. Believe me I have never had one want to leave before the bullets were gone.

We have to stop laughing and pointing at the silly liberals, bite our tongues and reason with them. When they are talking about saving kids, and we sound like crazed militia, they are the ones who win the hearts of the middle, yes.

We need to do some outreach folks. And we need to look more reasonable than the Brady's... Come on, it shouldn't be that hard.

You and I may love already love our guns, but they don't, and never will if we don't make it more attractive. If we don't win more hearts and minds, we will lose them.

We definately can't say stuff like this when any of them are listening, at least until they have been converted.

They're not winning right now, and the tide is turning against them overall. We have more states with concealed carry laws than we did 10 years ago. We have a chance to kill the 94 'assault weapons' bill by holding control of the house (better if we get the senate). NRA membership at an all time high, new groups like GOA and JPFO are growing as well. In the mean time, Handgun control is laying off staff and the MMM both shrank and was kicked out of their office space!

Plus we have the internet, the mass media that the 'intellectual elites' can't control. And it's mostly conservative / libertarian in nature. We have sites like this and many others to rally under the radar.

I'm not anywhere near giving up or feeling hopeless. I'm using my abilities to hopefully help change the minds of hoplophobes about the second amendment - pushing back the frontiers of ignorance and detroying the lies about guns and the RKBA.

This is how I'm fighting:

This is my new web site. Take a look at the anti's core issues that are debunked in just a minute or two. Know someone on the fence about guns? Send them to a movie to combat the lies. More movies taking on other subjects are on the way. Do whatever you can in your own way to furthe the fight.

Just focus on your goal, put your head down, and keep moving forward.

You are right, Revel. At some point concerns over "democracy" will be moot, as the evil one's time will have come round at last. At that point, a powerful delusion will come upon those that "love not the truth". Never mind fighting off that onslaught with firearms; the enslavement of heart and mind will be a judgement for not believing on Jesus Christ.
