Animals can do quite a bit of damage to bones.

Not being able to see the partial skull or the crack, it's impossible to say what caused the crack.

It could be from weathering alone, it could have cracked in freezing weather. DC has sharp Temp ups and downs in the winter.

WEll, sometimes squirrel and small rodents hoard materials, such as silk neckties left lying about in open spaces. They will take that material to their nests unless distracted by tasty corpses; if that happens typically they will drop the item. This is probably what the police found.

Um I'm sorry. I did not mean to give the impression that C. wasn't murdered. The skeleton may or may not reveal how, is all. Cracks can be caused by winter freezes. Animals do leave cut marks. So it is up to the forensic antrhopologists to choose among the alternative causes by looking at the actual bones.

About that psychic. Yes, actually I found it last night and never even heard of it before. Talk about timing! Here's the excerpt relating to Chandra: because of a dream i had i believe chandra levy's body will be found by a creek around alot of trees close to a road and she will be found "when the leaves are on the ground".....possibly with another body of a man wrapped in clear plastic.
