It makes me sick to have to lock my handgun in my car before I come into the office, or the Credit Union.

Yes. I assume this is Bush's fault but not Clinton's.

Maybe David Robinson finally got tired of everyone saying he has no guts.

May the Lord protect the hostages and they get out safely.
I'll bet all those held hostage are now in favor of conceiled weapon legislation. The voters often don't understand until it happens to them. They suddenly understand our 2nd ammendant concerns and why we do our best to keep the ammendment.
Right now, they see what it's like when only the crimminals have the weapons.

When I first starting coming to FR I knew very little about guns and therefore never saw a reason for people to carry them. A lot of FReepers have shown me the way. It is examples like this that show that every American should practice their 2nd amendment right. The Goverment needs to stop protecting criminals.

I know where that is. I used to work for a bank in San Antonio -- during robbery trainings, we were always told that the "pros" will get in, get what they want and get out as fast as possible. A hostage situation is never good. I was involved in a few robberies (the robbee - not the robber) and all of them took less than a minute from start to finish.

That goes for me too, and who knows how many lurkers!

Hostages taken in San Antonio 05/21/2002
Associated Press
SAN ANTONIO - A man armed with a shotgun shot his way into a San Antonio credit union branch Tuesday morning and was holding at least two people hostage inside.
The man shot out the lock on the front door of a San Antonio Federal Credit Union branch at 8889 Bandera Road on the city's northwest side, then shot out a front window to get inside.
KENS-TV Police surrounded the San Antonio Federal Credit Union branch on Bandera Road. |
Two female employees were inside the credit union at the time. They initially took refuge inside a closet, but later came out.
"We know they haven't been hurt," said San Antonio police spokesman Sgt. Gabe Treviño. "At this point, we're going on the premise that he walked in there with the intent to rob the bank."
Police said the women employees were considered hostages.
Dozens of police, SWAT team officers, negotiators, and a police helicopter surrounded the bank. The gunman made no immediate demands.
"We're just going to wait," Sgt. Treviño said. "We want to make sure that we take our time, we get him calmed down, we get him out of the bank and we get everybody home safe, and that's our main objective."
No shots have been fired from the bank, and no one has been injured, police said.
The gunman was described by police as agitated and disoriented. Initial reports that the man may have a bomb could not be confirmed.
Police were alerted to the situation several minutes before the scheduled 7 a.m. opening of the credit union's drive-up facility.
Traffic was blocked on streets surrounding the building.
KENS-TV contributed to this report.

Sounds to me like the women would of had plenty of time to pull personal weapons and take care of the trouble if they would of be allowed to.

"We're just going to wait," Sgt. Treviño said. "We want to make sure that we take our time, we get him calmed down, we get him out of the bank and we get everybody home safe, and that's our main objective." I pray that these hostages get out of there safe and sound.
