World Trade Centre: Could the attacks have been prevented? (Public Overwhelmingly sides with Bush!)

The White House has moved quickly to defend President Bush against claims that he could have done more to prevent the 11 September attacks.
The national security advisor, Condoleezza Rice, says the President was briefed in August last year that Osama bin Laden planned to hijack American aircraft.
But she says the information was very generalised and did not relate to the possibility of attacks on buildings.
The disclosure comes as a US congressional committee prepares for a hearing into intelligence failings in the months leading up to 11 September.
The FBI Director, Robert Mueller, has repeatedly said he wished agents had acted on information that terrorist groups had sent students to flight schools in the US.
Since September, the FBI has been reorganised to increase its emphasis on counter-terrorism and counter-intelligence work.
Could the 11 September attacks have been prevented? Where did intelligence go wrong? Have the lessons been learnt?

I'm not going to post the entire page of comments by the public, because it would take too long and they're changing constantly. But
go read this page, and then go add your own comments at the bottom if you wish. The responses, from both the US and UK, are OVERWHELMINGLY pro-Bush, or at least of the "there's no way he or anyone else could have known" variety. I'd say it's 90-10 or 95-5 in favor of Bush.
The RATS have blown it BIG TIME.

I do agree (and am glad) that the Dems may not be getting the high degree of public outrage that they would like. However, as much as I dislike them, I don't view them as lightweight foes. I think they may have expected only a small percentage of people would change their opinion of Bush as a result of this manufactured "scandal". But for them, this is an incremental step forward in the early innings of this current election cycle. Rememer the October Surprise Bush DWI story the weekend before the Presidential election? Post-voting booth polling seemed to indicate a percentage or two of voters were swayed by that story. And in a close election, it nearly changed the outcome.
I think this is just a foretaste of many more coordinated attacks to come before Election Day 2002 rolls around. Each attempt may only convert a few tepid Bush supporters, but with the help of the press and a malleable public, the Dems see a route to victory. To underestimate them is very dangerous.

Thank you for the ping John and for the thread Timesink.
Just imagine if this whole thing had been under the traitors regime of Clinton. He would be lieing that he even had any information.
The truth is what we are getting from Bush and others on his team and they are standing tall in how they are handling this.
The Dems are going to eat crow on this one too.
Thanks again.

But to underestimate the way Americans have related to Pres. Bush and his honesty and general approach to the job is THEIR mistake. His approval remains high in spite of all these never-ending "stories". Even Greta Van Susteren said she felt appalled at the things Democrats have been saying this week, that it is highly inappropriate about ANY president.

That's all true, but who do you think Greta will vote for come November?
And haven't we learned not to rely on polls? We pretty much expected Bush to beat Gore decisively based on most polls, but instead the popular vote was lost and the more important electoral vote barely won. Whatever the reason, the fact remains that Democrats know how to squeeze every bit of mileage out of the electorate. I'm not trying to be a spoil-sport, just staying cautious and aware of the enemy. They fight nasty, they have most of the media and popular culture on their side, and frankly, I don't trust that a decisive segment of the voting public will stay chaste from the Democrat's advances.

Indeed, given that senior Democrats were briefed on the August 6th memo on the very next day that the President was, they -- Gephardt, Daschle, the whole stinking lot -- stand revealed for the no-good lying traitors that they are.

Well, given the fact that the timeline of the FBI data indicates that the warning was given in 1999 and that Bush wasn't in the WH until later, even a demolib has to see that it was Bubbafucco that blew it. Its time for a big Clinton legacy flush....

Sometimes, you just cannot scrape the sh@t off of your shoes fast enough to get rid of the smell. Even after washing... the stench persists. Funny.
Dems been doin a lot of that recently.
Wonder what they will try next... seem to be very actively, and somewhat frantically doing everything they can come up with, to try and keep from getting run over this next election cycle. I am seeing bush pull 85-90 percent numbers in polls all over the place... it's time for zogpee to pull another "fast one" out of his lyin' arse... for dasshole and gepfart.
Democart stragery, is fallin' in the crapper.
Like quicksand, the more they try to get out, the deeper they seem to sink. This may in fact, not be a good year to be a democrat.
It is about friggin time.

dems seem to be having a helluva time trying to get traction before this election cycle goes full tilt eh?

Thanks for the Post...I have utter disgust for the way the Dems play the game...however I do not believe that the citizens have been served well by any of our Federal Public Servants. They should all share any blame on this... let the sunshine in. The "Intelligence" agencies, the INS, FAA, Airlines, Airports, the former President and all his staff & appointees, as well as the current "Leadership". Open it up, we want to know the truth, the truth will trump the bulls---!!!! There needs to be some punishment involved for these criminal/treasonous actions. Key word here is TRANSPARENCY in Government.

Yeh, but on another poll...."32% said they viewed Bush less favorably".....what does that tell you fellow Americans? This whole thing stinks. The way this is being spun by the Lamestreamers is just disgusting and misleading enough for the ignorant sheeple to be swayed. This is one sick country when nearly all of Americans aren't aware that the real warnings of and reasons for these types of events came during BillyBob's humjob and cigar laden regime. Republicans and the entire country are in deep trouble when ABC, NBC, SeeBS, etc. spin this story the way they have already. This is gruesome, and the majority of the people are so uninformed and ignorant that the lies and inferences about G.W. will be absorbed by many, many people. The country is out of luck because the people are so endlessly clueless. And the spin of the Lamestream media is repulsive and devilish. God bless America when the people are this ignorant. And again, to think the rampant ignorance is INTENTIONAL! (compliments of your wonderful teachers union and public school system.)

Besides, only 25% of colonials supported the American Revolution... and that's all it took to break free from Britain. The fact is, the majority of people are always kind of dumb, and that's one of the reasons the founding fathers created the electoral college, and the reason we are a constitutional republic and not a democracy. There's good reason to fear mob-rule.

a FEw. (ha) What's the problem? I'm trying to accentuate the fact that public opinion and public ignorance are fostered by the lamestream media and the public schools. Cool it!
