Don't know the total vote count so far, but the current result are below. Amnesty isn't looking popular, Mr. President!

Illegal aliens should be deported because they broke the law in order to get here.-- 70%
This figure is a little low from some of the other polls I have seen But if you add in the 27% that want a moratorium on immigration, it is about right.

My stepmother legally came here from the Philipines. She did it right and it took years. She is quite bitter at all who cut in line via illegal entry. But, all her freinds and relatives back home urged her and others already here to vote for Al Gore in 2000 because they felt he offered the best shot at allowing more immigration to the US. I've heard this about the Mexicans also.

Well, all the Gore voters cannot be too displeased with Bush...I don't know what Gore could do that Bush is not.

....vote for Al Gore in 2000 because they felt he offered the best shot at allowing more immigration to the US. I've heard this about the Mexicans also. And this is where the pubbies are making a big mistake by placing all their eggs in the immigration basket. They think that pandering to the Hispanics is going to bring them mucho votes in 2004. I don't see it that way.
Minorities always have and will continue to vote democrat. Just look at what used to be California.

Well, all the Gore voters cannot be too displeased with Bush...I don't know what Gore could do that Bush is not. A lot of Republicans who supported Bush in 2000 and his upcoming win in 2004 are going to look stupid when the immigrants that Bush kissed up to spank the Republican party in the 2006 and 2008 elections.
And that will be all she wrote.

that want a moratorium on immigration This is the problem with these stupid polls. I would have voted this way but this does not say that illegals would still be deported. I take it to say that everything would stop until it was "fixed". So I voted "deport the illegals".
To: jwh_Denver
True, we need to place a moratorium on immigration while we are trying to clean up the mess we already have here. Once we get the illegals deported (not amnestied) then we can allow immigration on a controlled basis according to the guidelines that are already on the books.
To: umgud
This is one of the biggest reasons IMO to come down hard on illegal immigration....granting amnesty to people who broke our laws to come here is a great big smack in the face to people who showed respect and came here the right way like your stepmother....I don't blame her for being bitter in the least...
To: Frances_Marion
And don't forget that when they get that amnesty, they will not have a record of the multiple federal crimes they committed: entry without inspection, document falsification, identity theft (in many cases, using someone else's social security number), tax evasion, in many cases gun possession, etc. And those are just the
federal laws. There's another laundry list of
state laws that they broke.
If you or I were to have even ONE of these hung on us, you could kiss your vote goodbye, entry into the military, government jobs and more. But I have heard of amnestied illegals (from '86) who were in the military and even met government employees who were amnestied.
Amnesty? Amnesty is immoral, and the equivalent of the government telling citizens that foreign criminals have more rights.

Thanks for the heads up.bttt

It looks like they deliberately split our vote.
They should have made deportation and a mortorium one choice.
