Right on, finnman: Defeat all Rat Senators up for election in Bush States in November.

Make Mullah Shorty Da$$hole totally irrelevant as a midget in charge of the minority party.

Then watch the changes done by a Republican Congress and a Republican President!

History is not on our side. I am holding out little hope that we will retain the house and regain the senate. Even the hugely popular FDR during WWII lost massive ground in the house and senate during mid term elections. The first of which saw his party lose 50 something house seats and 13 senate seats!

Point being that popularity of the president and a war does not lead to his party gaining seats in midterm elections.

Human cloning could easily be the straw that breaks Carnahan, Harkin, Johnson, Cleland, Wellstone and/or Toricelli.

OOOOOOOOOOOOO-kay.

In Illinois, Republican George Ryan's campaign committee was declared a continuing criminal enterprise. Lead man Scott Fawell, and others, have been indicted big-time. Rep candidate Jim Ryan (no relation) has already called for Gov Ryan's resignation. Party chances in November? Ha!

In Michigan, Rep candidate Dick Posthumous is a total nonentity. When he walks into a room, nobody even knows he's there. Zero TV presence, can't give a command to a dog let alone make a speech. On top of it he's short, slightly built, and soft spoken. Granholm has all the right qualities. She'll have coattails, even though she's Fieger's handmaiden.

Wisconsin? Are you smokin' the happy terbakky? Another governor's race lost to a whatizface candidate, and that won't help the House candidates.

I hope the Rep party is in better shape elsewhere.

This article clearly lays out the strategy (or strategery) for defeating a bunch of Rats in November. Unfortunately, this requires that the RNC be aggressive in attacking the Rats for being obstructionist. The RNC has never, IMHO, been very aggressive. They and the rest of the Republicans are handicapped by a sense of fair play, whereas the Rats know that politics is no game, but a contest for power. How else do you explain all of the Rat senators from states that traditionally vote Republican in the presidential race? I'll believe that the Republicans will aggressively fight the Dems, putting them on the defensive, when I see it. I'm not holding my breath.

Thanks to Democratic Senate Leader Tom Daschle (D.-S.D.), November may bring an almost unprecedented moment to modern American politics: total Republican control of both elective branches of the federal government.

We have all been saying this since Daschle took over after jumping Jeffords jumped!

Shall we say "Thank you, tiny Tommy, now or later?" </sarcasm off

pick the Democrat and get judges who think child pornography is free speech but the Ten Commandments are not.

This ticks me off. Anyone else?

Back in Washington, Bush has maneuvered the GOP into position to carry on a sharp fall debate with the Democrats on issues on which popular opinion tilts in the Republican direction.

And with Trent Lott leading the charge, how can we lose?

Oh Sh**!

'2 will be to the GOP what '94 was to the Demos. A GOP 'victory' would be to keep 41 determined true-believers in the Senate - as in willing to risk media 'dislike' and block any outrageous legislation as pushed by Dash+Co. W is bound to sign whatever bills the Congress drops on his desk while riding his 'unprecedented' popularity straight into a defeat by whichever Demo runs against him in '4.

Know what? I'm going to bookmark this thread too. For future reference.

I generally agree with the article, except that the stalling of judges is not an issue that the average voter cares about.

The Republican's may have the issues, but for them to have traction they have to be "nationalized", as the Contract for America was, Republican candidates running on a common theme orchestrated by the RNC. Terry McAuliffe knows how to do this very well. So does Carville.

So far I've seen no evidence that the RNC is preparing to run an aggressive national campaign this fall, or that GWB is going to expend some of his political capital. It's still early, but these issues won't matter if they're not placed in front of the electorate. If R's run on local issues, and selective national issues locally, there's no reason this won't be a typical mid term election.

** VIRGIN Poster Here, so please be gentle! **

While this sounds well and good, I'm concerned about the congressional leadership having the gonads to do the right things--passing legislation that is conservative and fiscally responsible. Will the Republicans dump Lott, or will they fritter away an excellent opportunity to roll back Democrat largesse?

I also wary of the media, as they could provide the underdog, Daschle, with a mouthpiece to complain about "those evil Republicans in charge." I distinctly remember hearing his whine during the six months in 2001 that the Republicans held control of the Senate on every newschannel. Imagine how vocal he could be after January 2003! Yuk!
