60 Minutes II report. Clinton would'nt pull the trigger in 96

(CBS) In the Persian Gulf, in late July 1996, American warships, a full complement of military hardware, and nearly 4,000 Marines, sailors and SEALs, were praying they could pull off the mission of their lives. They had been assigned to grab the man, who before September 11th, had killed more Americans than any other terrorist.

His name is Imad Mugniyah, and U.S. intelligence believed they had tracked him to the waters of the Persian Gulf, aboard a merchant ship, the Ibn Tufail.

Marine commander John Garrett helped plan this top-secret mission to take down the ship, and take Mugniyah into custody. This is the first time he has ever talked about it publicly. In fact, no one involved has ever talked about it, until now. Dan Rather reports.

“If we’re going to take down a ship, as in this case, you would like to have some sort of scare factor, a fly-over, low down, by jets,” he says. “Maybe even a strafing run or something off to the side. Simultaneously accompanied by a boarding of the vessel from the air which could be helicopters hovering and then fast-roping down to a spot that’s been picked on the deck

Interesting that 60 Minutes would report this. Something's going on in the dim party. Are they backing Daschle over Gore?

He was probably getting a BJ and didn't want to be distracted.

That bears repeating ..... and repeating .... and repeating. It's probably as close to the truth about what really went on most of the time during Clinton's time in office than just about any other explanation.

No one dares risk invoking his wrath.

Exactly, because they're worried Clinton'll either take them down with him (does anybody remember what happened to Bob Livingston?!) or...... they'll end up on this list!

TWA exploded July 17, 1996. Is there a more specific date for this failure to go after this terrorist? Could there be a connection?

I don't think we stand a chance of ever knowing what was going on.

But it does help explain whay x42 is never going to be prosecuted by the current administration.

There is more truth to the term Republicrate then meets the eye.

I don't doubt that .. I have heard and read if not all then most of the stories about Clinton .. and IMO he is a worthless piece of crap and I know he will rot in hell for it

With that said .. This country will not put a former President in jail and it is not because of any politician but because you will not find a jury to convict him ..

Agree with everything you've said with one exception. He's not a winner in the game of life. Things gained by deceipt and selfishness do not make one a winner in life. clinton is and always has been a miserable soul, a slave to his animal impulses and the lies to conceal his true, pathetic nature which have kept him in power. Live by lies, you can't live a life of anything but misery.

We have to move past our need for clinton to pay as he should for what he did in a fashion we would like and would be legally appropriate. He's already paying every single day. The pressing need now is for us to figure out how to sway a nation of non-thinkers to think for a change, for their own sake and for the sake of future generations of Americans and for the sake of mankind itself.

It appears that Bill and Hillary Clinton have escaped "judgement" for their crimes against this country and against many people whose lives have been lost either because of his treacheries or directly because of their "standing in the way" to his and Hillary's ascent to power.

However, (usually save this for the Daily Dose - but they need to be read in other places) here are a few Words of Wisdom from the Book of Proverbs in the best selling book of all time: The Bible:

(And this is just a small sampling of similar words of wisdom)

Proverbs 10

2 Ill-gotten treasures are of no value,
but righteousness delivers from death.

6 Blessings crown the head of the righteous,
but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked.

7 The memory of the righteous will be a blessing,
but the name of the wicked will rot.

9 The man of integrity walks securely,
but he who takes crooked paths will be found out.

11 The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life,
but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked.

16 The wages of the righteous bring them life,
but the income of the wicked brings them punishment.

20 The tongue of the righteous is choice silver,
but the heart of the wicked is of little value.

22 The blessing of the Lord brings wealth,
and he adds no trouble to it.

23 A fool finds pleasure in evil conduct,
but a man of understanding delights in wisdom.

24 What the wicked dreads will overtake him;
what the righteous desire will be granted.

25 When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone,
but the righteous stand firm forever.

28 The prospect of the righteous is joy,
but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing.

29 The way of the Lord is a refuge for the righteous,
but it is the ruin of those who do evil.

30 The righteous will never be uprooted,
but the wicked will not remain in the land.

Chew on that! God's Word is truth. We do not see the end we only see the now. We must commit this heinously evil pair to a Holy God who promises that one day His Justice and Righteousness will fill this earth and cover it like the waters cover the sea.

In the meantime, it is our job to pray aginst the evil and work against it and to go on offense in terms of promoting and working for and speaking for the right and the good and the just and the true.

Despite the seemings, such efforts never go unrewarded - (we cannot "see" everything that is going on) and evil never, in the end, goes unpunished. NEVER.

Excellent post, #58 - thank you! I didn't ping you to the Proverb selections posted above - but you said basically what they (God) say (says).

I have loathed the Clintons for their evil and their seemingly unpunished crimes as much or more than any American. I still get physically nauseated any time either one's face is shown or words are reported.

But, all the anger, all the loathing, all the desires for justice, all the rants, all the screaming, does nothing but raise the blood pressure and harm one's own health. (It does unite us, though, doesn't it???)

We - I - all who care must concentrate on going on offense, on doing the right thing, and on being involved in the good and the right and the just for our country and ourselves. Committing that way unto the Lord, and trusting in Him to carry out the justice that is coming for the evil pair. No matter what they do or say - they cannot run or hide from the justice that is coming - and, in some ways, is already upon them. There is no escape for them. Leaving them in the hands of a Holy Righteous God has brought me peace - even though I would have rather (at the beginning) had President Bush go on offense and put them both in jail. I believe that - for whatever reasons these decisions were made - the decision to not do that was the best thing for this country at this time.

Do you know that I talk to people every day about politics and so far I have not come across one who would vote for either Clinton today? They blame (most of them) Sept. 11 on Bill Clinton! And they think Hillary Clinton is compromised because of her association with him.

That doesn't mean they are no longer a threat to this country. Of course not. They very much are. But they are, as David Schippers said, "evil incarnate" and, being so, we are not of strength to come against successfully their evil. But God is. They have chosen their portion. And it is to work and do and think and say EVIL.

There is nothing, no power in the universe, that can stop the judgement coming to them for their choice from a Holy and Righteous God. All in God's timing and perfect plan.
